We are deep into fascism, mirroring so much of what happened in 1930s Germany. Concentration camps come in many forms and this administration keeps thinking up new ones.

I have been thinking a lot lately about Obedience to Authority by Stanley Milgram. The most chilling part was that he found it did not require hate, bigotry or allegiance to any ideology for good and decent people to harm a fellow human being simply because someone in authority told them to.

That should say: than far too many are willing to admit.

So now apparently Hegseth and Trump want to roll back the regulations that are meant to prevent US military personnel from committing crimes against humanity and violating the US constitution because.....of course they do. We are farther down the road to fascism than far too many refuse to admit.

It should be needless to say, but it is perhaps at this moment worth saying, that transgender individuals have the same right as anyone else to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

My newspaper finally covered the fact that unless Republicans in Congress carve out an exception, the One Big Beautiful Bill will trigger automatic cuts to funding for Medicare. In the past, Congress always did so but the current crop of Republicans apparently don't care how it will affect seniors.

The parallels to 1930s Germany become more blatant every day--right down to sending the military into towns across the country. Not surprising since Hitler admired Christian Nationalists in the US--except that even he thought their ideas went too far.

@microsoft.com Why did you have to get rid of Skype? Did you consider how it might impact people who depended on it? Teams just doesn't cut it for trying to do video chat with my son who has Down syndrome. Some days he's in tears over this and so am I. Never had these problems with Skype.

I've come to believe money isn't the root of all evil, the notion of superiority is. The most horrific actions have happened because some believed they were entitled to do what they did. The rest were because some were desperately trying to prove they were not less than.

I wonder why equality feels like a threat to so many people. Is it a need to feel superior in some way? If so, that's a lot harder to fight than mere ignorance about one man's stupidity, innate corruption, incompetence and lies.

I will never again wonder how Hitler came to power and could do what he did. We are seeing, step by step, the rise of fascism in our own country. Those of us who know history are screaming about the danger, while too many who think of themselves as "good citizens" claim we're overreacting.

It's Pride Month and I will always be an ally to the LGBTQIA community. I will never understand the hate the community faces. Just let people be happy being who they are.

I never thought I'd shop at Costco but I got a membership a few weeks ago because they are holding fast to their DEI policy. I also talked to workers there who told me they LOVE working for Costco. So DEI AND workers who are treated well? I'll absolutely shop there over stores that don't.

Nothing would ever make it worth it even if it was legal--which it is NOT.

In the midst of all the chaos, all the appalling actions of this administration, remember that your kindness to others and theirs to you matters. You do make a difference, probably in ways you may never even know by creating a ripple effect. Your words, your caring may get passed on and on to others

Every time I think I couldn't despise these people more, they prove me wrong.

I stand with every group being dehumanized by this administration and its supporters.. Doesn't matter if I'm part of that group or not. If they can dehumanize any one group, they can dehumanize all of us. More than that, I lose MY soul if I don't speak up, don't stand for what's right.
