And yes, Fish Bar in Hualien, Taiwan, actually sells booze, in addition to fisheries outreach. Mackerel-dashi infused gin for your gin and tonic! And the cutest mahi-mahi plushies (sold in sexually dimorphic pairs!) 🦑🐡🧪

Visiting fish markets in video games to make sure the fish are accurate for that region is a normal thing that everyone does, right?

I enjoyed some anchois frais marinés today at my friends' restaurant, so here's Engraulis encrasicolus / European anchovy for #SundayFishSketch today. Bon appétit! (And always a fun reminder that anchovies look like real-life Muppets with their big eyes and exaggerated mouths!) 🦑🐡🧪

Watercolor painting of a Moorish Idol, Zanclus corutus. What look like eyebrows are actually horns on adult fish. The common name may refer to the reverence that fishermen in some parts of Southeast Asia have for these fish.

I’m painting one reef fish per day for 100 days with the hope of building a community.
It’s about how art becomes connection. If you love the ocean, curiosity is enough. 🐠

If you want to scritch your very own tapir & you live outside of Central or South America or SE Asia, you'll need to visit a zoo.

But these little guys are (evolutionarily) from around here, in North America. Let's talk about it.
