Just out in #ChemSci (doi.org/10.1039/D5SC00326A); new #fluorescence #probe switched by weak bases. The fluorescence lifetime directly reports on the concentration of e.g. glutamate and phosphates. We envision such probes as tools for studies of cellular buffer systems and metabolites.
Sunday 8:00 #ACSSpring2025 meeting in room 32B. Amar Flood @floodgroup.bsky.social and I will both be talking about our super bright #fluorescent SMILES materials. Including recent work in #ChemSci (doi.org/10.1039/D3SC...) #nanoparticles and in #AngewandteChemie (doi.org/10.1002/anie...) on #CPL.

It's been a very sad day. Fraser will be dearly missed
Hi Marko, Great to see you here on Bluesky! And congratulations on the publication of this nice work.
Fluorescence Friday! New paper in Chemistry β A European Journal. We tune molecular orbitals of acridinium dyes by substitution with electron withdrawing groups to suppress PET quenching, turn on the #fluorescence and gain activity in #photocatalysis.

Packing hundreds of fluorescent molecules in nanoparticles can lead to super bright labels and probes. However, this requires solving the problem of aggregation caused quenching and understanding the photophysics of dyes in materials. See our perspective in Chem Sci.
