Sorry for the potentially stupid question, I've always worked under the assumption that a JY NMR tube should not be spun, why is that the case?
FAO Main Group chemists here on bluesky - a while ago I made a list of all of you, it makes for an excellent Main Group-focused timeline. If you want to add it just click on the list and pin it!
Also, if I'm missing anyone just let me know!

The first isolation of neutral aluminium(i) trimers called cyclotrialumanes is reported by Bakewell et al. in @natcomms.nature.com.

Wow, really cool! Congratulations to all!
Thanks Darren!!
Thank you!!
For some background (or a potted summary) check out my "behind the paper" blog post, available here: communities.springernature.com/posts/a-neut...

In the paper we detail the synthesis of novel Aluminium(I) complexes, with hitherto unknown trimeric nuclearity, and we've explored their reactivity with a range of small molecules. The real highlight being the reactivity with ethene, where we isolated species with 5- and 7- membered M-C rings
This has been a true team effort and an true pleasure to be involved in. Huge credit to my fellow co-first authors @imosquire.bsky.social and @michi-tritto.bsky.social (and with Clare of course!) - this has been a long time coming! The paper wouldn't be what it is without Tobias's insights either!
Absolutely thrilled to see our ( @bakewellgroup.bsky.social ) paper "A neutral cyclic aluminium (I) trimer" has been published in @natcomms.nature.com in its full typeset version! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Nice one!!! Congratulations!
Just incredible work, huge congratulations to Liu and Zhang, spectacular!

First paper of the year and a wonderful collaboration with the @millsgroupchem.bsky.social. Congrats to Jake and the team for the mammoth effort. chemistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Nice work!! Pass my congratulations on to Jake!!
Awesome! Congratulations guys!
Registration is now open for the 2026 RSC (@rsc.org) Main Group Interest Group Conference:
www.rsc.org/events/detai...
The meeting will be taking place on the 8-9th April 2026 at the University of Edinburgh, showcasing a breadth of inorganic/main group chemistry- We would love to see you there.
Really depends on the department and the group! Some are really good at keeping track of their inventories, and others admire the organisation of others π
Really cool chemistry! Amidine ligands with the magic touch it seems π #chemsky
I am advertising a fully funded chemistry PhD scholarship in my group at @aucklanduni.bsky.social to study titanium catalysts attached to sold supports. For more details see: tinyurl.com/FalconerPhD1

SCXRD diffraction pattern, showing lots of peaks
Got to help the new PhD student with their first crystals yesterday, although I did have to point out they probably won't see diffraction quite like this every time they grow crystals! #chemsky
We're Hiring! If you are interested in a PDRA post with the Mehta group, please apply! @ox.ac.uk @oxfordchemistry.bsky.social

The group will soon be advertising a 3-year PDRA position @imperialchemistry.bsky.social. The successful candidate will research the synthesis and reactivity of complexes with alkaline earth-metal bonds. Start date: 03/26. Please get in touch for infomal inquries.
A paper accepted late at the end of last year is this work with the Stasch group. We determined the structures of five calcium complexes, both homo- and heteroleptic, including a donor-solvent-free molecular calcium
hydride complex. @standrewschem.bsky.social
Thank you Clare!!!
Thanks Meera!!
Thanks Darren!! Have a lovely Christmas!
