Well, well, well... I don't want to hear a damned thing about why Mamdani really HAD to break his campaign and post election promises re our library budget. You all should be pushing him to do what he said he would do.

Just a reminder that the Democratic Party enables Republicans to do whatever damage they can when they’re in power and then cleans it up while telling everyone that they really wish things could change but it just isn’t time to do it yet. Because of the messes, of course.

It's looking increasingly like these guys thought that if they could wreak more death and destruction than the other side then they would be respected as strong powerful men and they would "win" and that would make them big important heroes. Very possibly they had no rationale deeper than that.

This is Trump & Miller's signature issue. They ALWAYS meant mass deportation and Miller vowed it'd be biggest infrastructure project ever

He got what he wanted and people fucking hate it

They may not say "mass deportation" but as long as Miller is there, it's what they are doing so keep saying it

Chuck Grassley long ago staked out Pentagon waste as a wheelhouse. That was always self-serving theater, because it was trivial compared to today, and the racist and fascist Grassley is invisible.

Were trans people the only members of the military who can understand concepts like "constricted seaways are easier to make dangerous than to make safe" and "you can't just try and kill literally everything from the sky"?

The flip side of the original post is also true, folks! The US could double the gas tax and people would barely feel it.

You’ll spend much more fixing your car’s suspension later since the highway trust fund will go bankrupt. So you better enjoy the shit out of that gum.

America is about to learn how tiny the federal gas tax has been all this time. 18Β’ per gallon, unchanged since 1993 and not tied to inflation. Fill your SUV’s tank and you can buy half a pack of gum on Uncle Sam.

I realized today that I know, off the top of my head, just three straits:

Gibraltar
Hormuz
Magellan

Any others that are, like, top five most famous straits?

It Wasn't Fascism All Along Conservatism was a distinct ideology but it is dead and it is not coming back.

it's (yet another) reason i reject the 'we need a normal centre right back' notion

i've got time for people who defected to our side, but anyone who went along with this is never to be trusted with governance ever again

We will continue leading with nonviolence and without fear!

Before I move on I will say that these guys are seriously dangerous when it comes to our democracy. They are learning a lot from AIPAC and they are just getting started.

As an aside, I was physically attacked last month while moderating a book talk on nonviolence.

This stuff is real.

Rep. Krishnamoorthi also took almost $200K from a short list of weapons manufacturers. Several of these companies saw stock prices bumps when Trump suggested a raise in the DoD budget.

In yesterday's @wttw.bsky.social debate Krishnamoorthi would not say he would block funding for the war in Iran.
