Hate this time of year, the S.A.D. makes my typical depression and dysphoria like 100 times more intense. Can't even here about a friends awesome milestone without sending my own head into a tail spin doom spiral.

It just a weirdly good 2000s pop song. And It's insanely catchy. I'll probably be singing the chorus all through Christmas now.

The letter, signed by most of the S230 repeal bill sponsors, claims the following:

- S230 causes the grooming of US children and deepfake porn
- S230 means β€œdrug traffickers are selling fentanyl-laced pills to teenagers”
- S230 caused body dysmorphia in youth
- S230 allows for terrorist recruitment

Anited States Scate

The Honorable John Thune
Majority Leader
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510
The Honorable Charles Schumer
Minority Leader
United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Leader Thune and Minority Leader Schumer,
On February 8, 1996, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was enacted. Included within this legislation was the Communications Decency Act and the now-notorious Section 230. What was originally passed with the goal of helping the emerging Internet industry as our nation approached a new century has since been interpreted to shield big tech companies from accountability for an ever-expanding variety of online harms.
As we approach the 30-year anniversary of Section 230, we must pause and reflect on where this law has led us as a nation and how it has affected the American people. Because of Section 230, America's children are being sexually groomed and extorted online; predators are creating and distributing Al-generated deepfake pornography; drug traffickers are selling fentanyl-laced pills to teenagers; young people's anxieties, stresses, and body image issues are exploited; and terrorist organizations and foreign governments are targeting vulnerable individuals for recrutment and exploitation. And to make matters worse, Section 230 prevents these victims and their families from ever having their day in court.
Practically speaking, there is no regulatory agency overseeing social media that could provide meaningful relief to abused consumers. The combination of having the courthouse door locked and no real regulatory body to protect consumers is harmful to America and it must come to an end. The time for accountability is now.
Few issues have generated more bipartisan consensus in this body than confronting the Section 230 problem. Indeed, there are few issues as important for Congress to confront than the escalating threat of online harms to Americans, especially America's children. As a res…

Posted by Sen Graham on Twitter, calling for a week in February β€œdedicated to advancing legislation that protects children from online threats and tackling the Section 230 crisis once and for all.” 10% of the senate sponsors the S230 repeal bill

The only part about it I enjoy is watching the once super plugged in millennials come to terms with being old now.

Repealing Section 230 would chill free speech by allowing platforms, not users, to be held responsible for what its users say. Platforms will become much more censorious over what its users can post. This is extremely bad
They're trying to rush it. Call your reps, don't let them

Thanks. this time of year its always up and down with the extra social obligations that probably make everyone a lil insecure. Some days are easier than others..

This is a very divided vote. It means we've been encouraging dissent. It now goes to the full committee. Please keep calling and urging your reps to reject it

IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE A COMIC...

Please talk about it on this thread! I would love to hear what stage you are at, what is working well, and what has proven more difficult than you thought.

Share a bit of art, if you can!

Sing your own praises, if you like!

Apparently P*ypal now asks for customer opinions on accounts sending invoices.
If you are paying an invoice to a nsfw artist, do NOT mention NSFW in any way, keep it blank even. you risk both your account and the artists.

This is the reason I've tapped out of a lot of political discussions even with folks I mostly agree with, too many people want to engage the world from how things should be not how things are. It's like we'll never get to the should if we're not starting in reality.

Good writing is good writing. You give me at least one character where I care about what might happen to them on the next page, I'm happy regardless of the genre

Honestly I think establishment dems are just stumped in general... like it was no secret most of the country didn't want Don but they still couldn't motivate enough of those people to go out and vote. People want some degree of authenticity and they just don't have it

Yeah that confuses me and might be some weird attempt at a rebrand before presidential primaries. Cuz i cant imagine anyone coming to that conclusion organically

He gives good face. That's pretty much it. He's politician attractive and he gives good interviews (in that he's really good at talking and not saying anything) and he has charisma... he's 1st term Obama 2.0
