Remember when we all thought Chicago was blocking streets with garbage trucks to deter ICE but it was actually for a festival? Minnesota should actually do it to block ICE. Bonus points if they do not salt the smaller roads in the neighborhoods ICE is targeting and use those trucks too.

There’s a whole lot of missing the point here. I highly suggest American folks go read some of the commentary on r/onguardforthee to see how Canadians feel about what is in their best interests right now.

Provided they bring Canadians on to have this conversation with people from both countries, I’m sure that will be a valuable dialogue.

I have had multiple conversations with Canadian friends in which they have made it clear they are going to act in their own best interests right now, and that they recognize that might hurt American citizens but that is what they have to do. I listen to them, not some stranger attempting a gotcha.

The suggestion I was responding to originally was that Americans pressure Canada into not doing business with El Salvadorian manufacturers. Not in response to Americans doing what we need to do.

There is a difference between “ask” and “pressure” and considering the fact that Canadian businesses are boycotting American goods right now, a move which directly affects American citizens more than it affects the government, they are clearly and rightfully placing their countries needs first r/n.

When we are talking about economically pressuring Canada to stop using El Salvadorian manufacturers, on behalf of American politics because of what the American and El Salvadorian governments are doing, that is pressuring Canada to do something on behalf of the US. We are in no position to do that.

Many products sold in the U.S. are made in El Salvador. In response to the El Salvador president’s statements today, we’re calling for an immediate boycott of all Salvadoran-made goods. Please help by listing any products or brands made in El Salvador in the comments below.

We cannot ethically pressure Canada to do anything for the US right now.

Air traffic control was not understaffed. They were actively communicating with both aircraft and told the helicopter to go behind the passenger plane. There are 1000 possibilities for why the helicopter did not comply.
