Over the last 20 years, looking at all vaccines administered domestically, there have been 9,933 actual vaccine injuries out of roughly 6.5 billion vaccines administered. Thatβs just 0.015 percent of all vaccines that result in injuries over 20 years. An estimate 4.2 million lives have been saved.
FYI: I survived back-to-school shopping with 4 high school freshmen. I'm ready to receive my award and free coffee.

A former βAlligator Alcatrazβ worker says detainees are subject to βinhumaneβ conditions β packed by the hundreds into cages without sunlight, with overflowing toilets and limited access to showers.
The stories we tell matter. I know this not from watching but from memory. I was just a child, held behind barbed wire in a U.S. internment camp, when an atomic bomb obliterated Hiroshimaβkilling members of my family.
Some doctors worry that massive cuts to Medicaid will leave pregnant people needing to drive hundreds of miles for prenatal care and delivery services.
Medicaid enables us to live in a society where kids, seniors, people with disabilities, foster care kids, pregnant people, & people with TB, cancer or HIV/AIDS have healthcare. That benefits us ALL. Fight to protect Medicaid!
Thanks so much!

I'm not sure who sent me all these markers for my classroom, but thank you, Diversity Fairy, whoever you are!
Former President @barackobama.bsky.social is spot on: Having a diverse community around you is essential for expanding your own world views and creating safe and inclusive spaces for all.

Right? I have barely been away from my classroom for a month (ok, I've had to go back in twice for meetings), and I feel like I need to hit the sales NOW but I also want to avoid them like the plague and enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is itβs okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
We have to sustain each other. Making joy isnβt denial, itβs how we will survive
I am SO lucky to teach in a district where we get to share this book with our 8th grade students. It is SO powerful. Be sure to read the sequel if you haven't already.

In Star Wars, the Resistance isnβt made up of heroes with perfect answers. Itβs full of people whoβve lost, failed, been oh so underestimatedβand still choose to fight for something bigger.
Proud of this little act of resistance inspired by #seattletroublemakers and made with care in Seattle by an all-volunteer cast & crew. Big thanks to @alexwinter.com for the most excellent narration! And @laceyleavittgray.bsky.social for asking me to direct! π #teslaregretsyndrome #crewtopia
