Sen. Murray: "I'm just sickened by this. To go into this war unprepared, to use outdated data, and to have this horrific thing happen where children were killed in a school sends a horrible message to those that are in a war with us and to our own constituents about what America's values are."

Imagine a world where Americans were smarter and didn’t applaud when reactionary idiot Ronald Reagan made a show out of removing the solar panels Jimmy Carter had installed on the White House. We wouldn’t now have to worry about affording to fill gas tanks next month.

I don’t think there is ever a great time for humanity to turn our future over to a set of intelligent machines, but I know that doing so while the globe is dominated by an Epstein Class of anti-human fascists is definitely the worst time.

That’s a rare downbeat note from Kudlow.

Commodity analyst Paul Sankey on CNBC, with an unnerving analogy:

"Some of us are looking at this a bit like what we saw with Covid, where the market seemed to be 'air-walking', regardless of what was clearly a very bad situation -- and then, suddenly, you know, collapsed when it all came home."

So focused on his own image…can we just get him a bigger mirror in his make up room, to keep him distracted?

Yellow and orange sunrise. A building with a white steeple in front of the sunrise. Two naked trees in the foreground.

I took this picture 6yrs ago today. I was walking to the train and caught this sunrise over my town hall in suburban NJ.

It also happened to be the last day I would commute into the city, as I decided to stop coming in bc of covid.

WHO declared covid a pandemic the next day, March 11.

DOJ Lawyer Quits Before Judicial Scolding for AI Brief Error (1) An assistant US attorney in North Carolina said he’s resigning over AI-created fabricated quotes and erroneous citations in an AI-produced court brief.

Additional coverage:

11.03.2026 12:08 πŸ‘ 40 πŸ” 8 πŸ’¬ 4 πŸ“Œ 0

FWIW, here is what I think actually happened: I think Mr. Renfer was routinely drafting documents using AI and then having his paralegal cite-check them. Over time, as their caseload increased and nobody noticed, they got sloppy. They figured as long as the quote was pretty close, it was good enough

10.03.2026 22:07 πŸ‘ 884 πŸ” 39 πŸ’¬ 42 πŸ“Œ 9

So the best case for DOJ is that they can isolate this to just Renfer but he is trying to claim cover from the fact that the (now former) Civil Chief (O'Hare or maybe O'Hara) approved his filings. The question is whether the judge decides to expand his inquiry.

Great job!

Judge: I will take the matter under advisement, I will file a written opinion, I am guided by a recent decision from the Fourth Circuit under similar circumstances

10.03.2026 21:01 πŸ‘ 474 πŸ” 18 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 1

Judge: it is very disappointing to be here, not just with any attorney but an attorney who represents the people of this district and takes the oath that he takes to do that

10.03.2026 21:00 πŸ‘ 620 πŸ” 26 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 2

Boyle: that's it from us unless you have more questions

Judge: I have a lot of questions but I don't think they are going to be answered today

10.03.2026 20:59 πŸ‘ 707 πŸ” 35 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 18

Judge: I don't think Mr. Renfer is fabricating quotes from whole cloth. I think he is drafting with AI and then not checking them.

10.03.2026 20:58 πŸ‘ 505 πŸ” 23 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 3

Some of the specific citations, when searched in legal search software, revealed no hits whatsoever, indicating that the exact quote was not found in any case

10.03.2026 20:56 πŸ‘ 507 πŸ” 21 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

Didn't catch his name, but someone from the US Attorney's office is now presenting the forensic history of the documents that were filed. The document was only opened for 25 minutes, probably indicating copy and paste from AI.

10.03.2026 20:54 πŸ‘ 622 πŸ” 35 πŸ’¬ 6 πŸ“Œ 9

Judge: Renfer claims that the Civil Chief approved his filings, do you know anything about that?

Boyle: I don't think that actually happened

10.03.2026 20:51 πŸ‘ 566 πŸ” 39 πŸ’¬ 8 πŸ“Œ 23

Boyle apologizes on behalf of the US Attorney's Office

Boyle: we do not use AI, that is our policy, we are all going to take training on this

10.03.2026 20:48 πŸ‘ 417 πŸ” 21 πŸ’¬ 9 πŸ“Œ 14

Judge: you ever been sanctioned before

Renfer: no your honor

10.03.2026 20:46 πŸ‘ 535 πŸ” 23 πŸ’¬ 8 πŸ“Œ 16

Renfer also claims that his filings were approved by his bosses and that should insulate him

10.03.2026 20:44 πŸ‘ 499 πŸ” 24 πŸ’¬ 19 πŸ“Œ 12

Judge: I want you to explain why your actions don't violate the NC Rules of Professional Conduct

Renfer: this was not intentional. I did not intend to file a draft. I did not intend to mislead or defraud the court.

10.03.2026 20:43 πŸ‘ 622 πŸ” 26 πŸ’¬ 8 πŸ“Œ 10

Judge: I believe this issue probably affects lots of other cases in which you have been involved
