Amid hundreds of cuts to museums, arts organizations and grant programs across the province, Nova Scotia is quietly set to invest $1 million into an AI-powered traffic signal pilot project for the Halifax region.
@hfxgov.bsky.social's financial contribution is unclear.
About 2000 people protest art, community and heritage cuts in front of the legislator in Halifax, NS.
Tim got rid of the bridge tolls that no one disputed, and lost $40 million in revenue. Then he lowered HST by 1% that no one asked for (or only his rich friends) and lost another $260.8 million in 2025/26.
His solution? He cuts $310 million from important programs impacting 22,000 jobs.
"Last Saturday, while addressing the African Heritage Month gala in Halifax, Houston said that if there are unintended consequences or harms as a result of the cuts and adjustments need to be made, he and his cabinet would listen."
Protest sign reading: Bridge tolls reduce funding by $36 million per year. How's that working out for you Mr. Houston?
"Bring back the HST! Don't cut our community!" (& while you're at it, reinstate the bridge tolls).
When the person leading the protest chants asked: "did you ask for the HST cut?" the resounding response from the crowd was: "NO!"

W/ this lvl of efficacy even l8er in life, it's bonkers that this vax isn't covered in all provs. Tho some have catch up progs, others have no coverage for ppl over a certain age (like NS where the HPV vax costs $700+). Just another way reactive over proactive policy costs more not less in NS.
"That's what the money's for" but it's for property taxes and funding municipal growth.
This budget is like finding $5 in the couch cushion while the house is on fire.

"If there’s any lesson in this bleak update, it’s that delay is the most expensive climate policy of all. Each year of foot-dragging and each step backwards only multiplies the cost in climate impacts and the effort required later. The atmosphere isn’t waiting for us to get our politics in order."

We are losing the night... The global spread of electric lights, combined with the round-the-clock nature of life and the launch of thousands of satellites, has rapidly “lightened” our world.

"To see the sector trying to position itself as a solution to climate change is really disturbing... What's more frightening is the signs we are seeing that governments in this country are accepting this myth the industry is trying to sell."

You have to be careful because white nose syndrome has found its way to this coast. There is work being done to determine whether bat boxes might create conditions for its spread. It's also important to consider the outdoor cat population in your neighbourhood before placing a box.

WOW!
One thing I can truly not take is when people on the radio need a drink of water. The sticky sound that happens when they speak makes me want out of my body.
