Senior U.S. District Judge John Coughenour on Thursday was blistering in his criticism of Trump’s action as he granted a temporary restraining order that blocks Trump’s executive order from taking effect nationwide. “I’ve been on the bench for over four decades, I can’t remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one is. This is a blatantly unconstitutional order,” Coughenour, an appointee of Ronald Reagan, said from the bench. “There are other times in world history where we look back and people of goodwill can say where were the judges, where were the lawyers?” Coughenour interrupted before Brett Shumate, a Justice Department attorney, could even complete his first sentence. “In your opinion Is this executive order constitutional?” he asked. Shumate said, “it absolutely is.” “Frankly I have difficulty understanding how a member of the Bar could state unequivocally that this is a constitutional order,” Coughenour said. “It just boggles my mind.”
BREAKING, via The Seattle Times: Trump's executive order to restrict birthright citizenship is blocked for at least the next two weeks by a Reagan appointee in Seattle who eviscerated the Trump lawyers present defending the order. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
If someone genuinely believes that we're in a peer-level competition with Beijing, it is utterly foolish to cancel NIH and other research efforts primarily out of a Vought-driven ideological mission to terrify civil servants. It's utterly counterproductive.
Not to say they don’t exist. Ginger Snaps is good. American werewolf in London is pretty good. I’ve heard The Howling and Bad Moon are good. But it’s been awhile now.
I forget who pointed it out on Twitter awhile back but it’s actually brave and necessary to make a Good werewolf movie cause compared to the other classic monsters, the movies tend to underperform or be critical failures.
Robert eggers do a stoner comedy
Especially cause the witch, the Northman, and the lighthouse are pretty different movies. Northman barely came off to me as a horror movie at all.
Gotta imagine he changes things up a little after the werewolf movie. But if they keep being as good as the first four he can keep going and I’ll happily watch
Oh good lord yeah I didn’t realize there were so many articles from 6+ months ago
Haven’t seen this one but Edward Norton is one of our best actors imo
I’m in the dark, what are they doing to mess it up?

*flooding at the Egyptian lol not fire
not Lynch's movie, I know, but god, what a sendoff
Missed out on most of the SIFF Powell and Pressburger series cause I didn’t know their movies existed until like a month ago. But the fire at the Egyptian forced a few to be rescheduled. So I was able to get my shift covered and see Moira Shearer dance in technicolor on the big screen!

Also china doesn't want your data anyway, they dont care about you unless you work in the military or tech, and then again, they're just going to buy your data from data brokers legally
#NowWatching Civil War (2024) heard so much discourse about this one, trying to approach it with an open mind.
Pretty good! She loves the chance to explore and doesn’t resent the leash a ton, but does not go from point A to point B in an orderly fashion
Took bane on a walk
I really hope at some point the rightwing victimhood thing rings hollow because we’re at the point now where they have the Supreme Court, 99.9% of billionaires, the house, the senate, the presidency, and they’re going “you know who is oppressing us now? The deaf”

Wow, apparently this statement alone is enough for a block from Will James.
Blanket name-calling anyone who is critical aka “mad about it” is not a normal way to respond to criticism.
#NowWatching The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) as I continue with hammer horror and begin my Frankenstein prep for Guillermo del Toro’s version.
The media has focused on wealthy, White neighborhoods. But the fire in Altadena--a racially and economically diverse suburb--deserves more attention, because insurance may not cover their rebuilding costs, forcing families out and leading the neighborhood to gentrify.
