Its seagrass meadows, mangroves, and coastal wetlands support green turtles and dugongs, and the island is a key stopover along the African-Eurasian Flyway, where migratory birds rest and feed before continuing their long journeys.

إلى جانب المعدلات المقلقة لنفوق الطيور المُحلّقة المهاجرة بسبب الأنشطة البشرية على طول مسار الهجرة الأفريقي-الأوراسي.
🗺️ الطيور تظل مؤشرات حيوية ومحركات أساسية لنجاح جهود الحفاظ على الطبيعة، شهد هذا العام 2025 تحديد ستة مسارات هجرة بحرية، مما يمهّد الطريق لاتخاذ إجراءات منسقة لحماية طيور البحار.

Many birds have water-repellent plumage. Using their beaks, birds apply oil secreted from their glands.

Cormorant feathers don’t have this oily coating. This reduction in buoyancy allows them to dive underwater to catch prey.🐟

الأراضي الرطبة الساحلية: كنوز الجزيرة العربية
من اليمن إلى السعودية وعبر سلطنة عُمان والإمارات، تُشكّل الأراضي الرطبة الساحلية في شبه الجزيرة العربية لوحة فنية طبيعية من أشجار القرم، والمسطحات الملحية، ومروج الأعشاب البحرية، والبحيرات الساحلية، والشعاب المرجانية، وغيرها من النظم البيئية المتنوعة. 🪸

لقد حققنا الكثير معًا خلال القرن الماضي، ولكن الآن، ما زال عالمنا بأمسّ الحاجة إلينا.

في الطبيعة، لا يوجد شيء بمعزل عن الآخر. وفي هذا اليوم، ننضم إلى الآخرين حول العالم لنتذكّر ونقدر أهمية المنظومات الطبيعية التي تُشكّل بيئتنا، من القطب إلى القطب، مرورًا بالغابات، والأراضي الرطبة، والجبال، والبحار.

وهذه هي المرة الثانية فقط التي يُعقد فيها مؤتمر الأطراف لاتفاقية رامسار في إفريقيا، والأولى في زيمبابوي، موطن منتزه شلالات فيكتوريا الوطني الشهير، المُصنّف كأرض رطبة ذات أهمية دولية، ومدينة شلالات فيكتوريا التي نالت مؤخرًا اعتماد "مدينة الأراضي الرطبة".

ستُعزز الدورة الخامسة عشرة لمؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية الأراضي الرطبة (رامسار) زيمبابوي، العمل الجماعي الفاعل واللازم لعكس فقدان الأراضي الرطبة، من خلال توسيع نطاق جهود الحفظ والترميم.

الأراضي الرطبة هي مصدر حياة للطيور والبشر وجميع الكائنات الحية في كل مكان. 🌿
لكنها تختفي بسرعة مقلقة.
⚠️ فقدان 22٪ من الأراضي الرطبة منذ عام 1970.
⚠️ واحدة من كل أربع أراضٍ رطبة في حالة متدهورة.
⚠️ قد تختفي نسبة إضافية تصل إلى 20٪ بحلول عام 2050.
