The branches of the crown are connected with strap systems and iron rings to prevent the strong branches from breaking off. Even in Menzel's time, there were concerns that the linden tree might disappear due to increasing urban development. (Therefore, it is difficult to take a photo without cars parked nearby.) In 1996, the lime tree was classified as a natural monument due to its distinctive features and age, combined with its cultural significance.
