Sara Teasdale, in a sepia portrait photo from around 1910. She is looking to the side, wearing a brimmed white hat.
From "There will come soft rains" by Sara Teasdale
"...Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done."

Thanks Steven, I appreciate you sharing the link! I now feel inspired to learn more about other lesser-known forms of Celtic poetry. π
Interesting, I have never heard of this form of poetry. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this, Amyβit's very relatable, especially around New Year's. π
This has a wonderful rhythm when spoken aloud. Such a beautiful metaphor for how we all need people to share our sadness with. Thank you π
The photo fits well with this haiku - it has an old-fashioned feeling, like a picture shot on an old camera that you would pull out of a drawer.

Such a lovely winter haiku, thank you!
"A Christmas Story" is one of the best Christmas movies, definitely. π

I spotted an all-white bird soaring across the trail that looked like a dove. Shortly after, I found this ornament hanging from a nearby fir tree.

I love this haiku of yours in particular. It says so much in so few words. Your haiku often make me stop and think. Thank you for sharing all of them.
Thank you for your kind words - yes, my aunt was definitely happy to see us after everything she has gone through. β€οΈ

A beautiful close-up. I love patterns on moth wings. You're right though, they live such a short time.

A photo of the book "The Will of the Many" by James Islingtonβthe dark blue cover with bronze foil columns.
Enjoying this so far. Each chapter brings unexpected twists. Having seen the second book, I wish they had kept the same design style. I love this cover.

MARY OLIVER WHITEβEYES
In winter all the singing is in the tops of the trees where the wind-bird with its white eyes shoves and pushes among the branches. Like any of us he wants to go to sleep, but he's restlessβ he has an idea, and slowly it unfolds
from under his beating wings as long as he stays awake. But his big, round music, after all, is too breathy to last. So, it's over. In the pine-crown he makes his nest, he's done all he can. I don't know the name of this bird, I only imagine his glittering beak tucked in a white wing while the cloudsβ
which he has summoned from the northβ which he has taught to be mild, and silentβ thicken, and begin to fall into the world below like stars, or the feathers of some unimaginable bird that loves us, that is asleep now, and silentβ that has turned itself into snow.
Perfect as winter nears β like slipping into a snowy dream.

Thank you Wang, I just happened to see your thoughtful reply on this older post. I agree β I shared her powerful poem in part because we often focus most on those who are famous, rich, or powerful, and forget the impact of everyday people showing courage.
