That’s a real dumb read, of course, because it misses the point.
Being outraged that even one person died in ICE custody or on their way to it, or in the act of protesting it, is the point.
That is and isn’t a tangent in Rhodes’ essay. A really compelling read if you can get to it.
Quick aside: I sometimes find myself thinking people go over the top when they use phrases like “ICE is murdering Americans in the streets.”
That’s a perverse attachment to accuracy, focusing on how much worse things could be and, of we’re being honest, how bad they could get…

Fascinating essay. It touches on Trump’s madness, it’s more about Rhodes’ time under Obama. It is not a defense.
