For MLK Day on @letterboxd.social I decided to do a list of essential Civil Rights and Black Liberation movies.
Mine is mid, but functional. Quote with your horn art 🐐
Dr. Gladys West, the pioneering mathematician whose work laid the foundation for modern GPS technology, has died. She was 95.

Switch Bakery Bistro in Santa Cruz coffee bar with the morning light coming in though the doors, highlighting a delivery of three large boxes showing the Noble Coffee Roasting logo on the side
Noble Coffee meet Switch Bakery Bistro! The most important component besides our ovens has arrived. If you’ve never had, you’re in for a real treat. I’ve known Jared and co. at Noble since they started 17(?) years ago. It’s still my favorite.

I was watching this when I learned of Rob Reiner’s murder. While not directly connected, this era of rom-coms and Ephron magic is inseparable in my mind from some of his best cameos and collaborations. #Letterboxd #RIP

I don’t even know what to say. If you love movies, he’s THE guy, the hero, just an absolute giant - and ALSO someone who loved humanity, who consistently fought for what was right in politics and civic life, too. God, what a horrible horrible loss
in the pit
This entire weekend
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.
All from his movies.
Here’s some Rob Pointon art to make your Thursday a little better.
I was also wondering this.
A La Marzocco with a laser-etched sign sticking out of the top that says "Switch Bakery Bistro - Gluten-free. So Good."
Looking past some white triangle dishes over the display case to the outside of Cedar Street in Santa Cruz
A view of our paint showing two stellar blues, a darker blue on the walls facing E/W and a lighter color N/S. There are two tables in the picture that are counter-height made of steel and upcycled barn wood and handmade stools from up cycled wine barrels.
a fun find for Switch Bakery's "no to-go" policy in cups, these are from a restaurant on the Santa Cruz wharf on the 60s and are ceramic cocktail tumblers that are carved to had a faux-wood finish with fish embossed.
Today turned the page on an entirely new chapter for us, one I've waited half of my life to arrive at. Here's a glimpse!

You’re welcome! I love an indie app with cool features.
I guess it’s been 9 years!
I’ve used Standard Notes for maybe 8 years - secure - configurable - indie developed

What I'm fixating on is the fact that he threw his film editor son under the bus
The Sarandos/NY Times piece should be used in the reg review
of Netflix/WB merger when he says that WBs theatrical will be preserved
"There's no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people. My son's an editor, he watched 'Lawrence of Arabia' on his phone"
I wrote a business plan around merging technology with creative forum (Greek) and had raised/lost the funding on Sept 11, 2001. I wonder how many other creative endeavors died that day? I’ve been thinking about this as we prepare to open our bistro, 25 years later.

From what I can tell, there is only one ski resort l opening in the Pacific region for Thanksgiving- Heavenly- and it’s really just a couple lifts and almost no base.
Has this ever happened? Having grown up in Girdwood, AK, this holiday was all skis. Alyeska isn’t even open and are making snow
I just got my Netgalley notification for this yesterday and promptly downloaded for my weekend.

I'm pretty sure he also directed the Kingdom Hospital series developed by King. It probably would have been better as a mini, but still cooler than people gave it credit for.
Great pick! I remember one of the kids from "The Kid" with Bruce Willis was in it and a bonafide stunt master of 80s/90s cinema directing.

Clearing out some cobwebs on the trail this morning on Jack’s Peak in Monterey. I haven’t run on technical terrain like this for a couple of years but it was amazing to get above the fog. My new gravel shoes from Craft performed admirably #Crohns #BeginAgain #Coros #Xplor2
