Mostly cloudy, misty, muggy, and very warm this morning! It feels more like a summer morning than March 10th. Some of us are seeing a bit of patchy fog, a few communities could even be a little dense.

Severe storm risk for the next 7 days in Arkansas
After that, we have a break in severe weather chances for a few days. A very low risk of storms returns this coming Sunday possibly, but we'll watch and see for now.
Wednesday severe risk in Arkansas
The storm mode becomes linear (i.e., a line of storms) Wednesday morning / through the day. The risk is over on Wednesday once the cold front passes. When linear, the severe hazards are mainly damaging wind gusts & flooding. A brief tornado is possible along the leading edge of the line.
The risk continues overnight, so you'll want to have ways to receive warning info that wakes you up set up before you head to bed Tuesday night. Again, all types of severe weather are possible overnight.

Tuesday (March 10) and Wednesday (March 11) are Arkansas Storm Team Alert Days for the potential for severe weather. All hazards are possible, especially late Tuesday into early Wednesday.
This watch is for the potential for large hail (1"-2.5" in diameter possible), damaging wind gusts, and a very low tornado risk. Have multiple ways to receive warning info for your location through the day.
NEW (8:45am Monday, 3/9):
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 3pm for parts of central & southern Arkansas. This includes Pulaski and Saline Counties, as well as communities like Hot Springs, Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Arkadelphia, Mena, Stuttgart, Camden, and El Dorado (to name a few).
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is likely to be issued soon. This Watch will highlight the risk of severe hail (1"+ in diamater hail) and damaging wind gusts. The tornado risk is very low, but not zero. Those in the red this morning, stay weather aware.

A new area from the SPC has been highlighted for parts of western and southern Arkansas ahead of a severe cluster of storms moving out of eastern Oklahoma and into Arkansas this morning.

Hail up to 2" in diameter is possible, as the SPC has used an Intensity Level 1 for hail in central and southern Arkansas today. There's still a damaging wind gust risk, and a very very low tornado risk can't be ruled out.

An isolated risk of large hail is possible this morning in the highlighted area in parts of western and west-central Arkansas. Storms are firing in eastern Oklahoma, with one severe storm cluster approaching the state line, producing up to quarter-size hail.
Confirmed EF2 tornado west of Willisville, Arkansas, on Saturday, March 7
On Saturday morning, March 7, before sunrise, the first confirmed tornado in 2026 in Arkansas occurred in Nevada County just west of Willisville. It was rated an EF-2 with max wind speeds of 125mph and a path length of 2.73 miles.

Monday, another risk of severe weather ignites in parts of Arkansas. Central & southern AR have a severe storm chance late morning/midday to early evening. As a result, Monday is an Arkansas Storm Team Alert Day.

The tornado in Nevada County near Willisville, AR, around 5:50am, reportedly downed numerous trees, destroyed a barn, and destroyed a trailer. There was 1 injury with this tornado. This is per preliminary SPC storm reports. NWS Shreveport is the acting office, and will conduct a damage survey soon.

Going to bed tonight, have multiple ways to receive warning info that’ll wake you. Not talking about sirens. Your warning methods should never include sirens. Sirens are only used to alert those outdoors & they aren’t operated by NWS. Your phone, NOAA weather radio, tv, etc are good places to start.
The severe risk is highest in western Arkansas. However, the entire state has at least some level of severe risk tonight into tomorrow.
Many in central and eastern Arkansas won’t see any activity until Saturday (either pre-dawn, morning, or midday as the slow-moving system progresses).
