The government has said they will but I donβt think theyβve actually attempted anything
Israel is attacking Lebanon, where about 600 people have died, what is the Lebanese Army going to do?
1. Join Hezbollah defending Lebanon
2. βDisarmβ (attack) Hezbollah and start another civil war
3. Sit around doing nothing like a bunch of idiots

Followup: thank you! It eventually came online again, I just had to wait a few hours!
Yeah, he's clearly a megatalent! And making one of the most popular & important manga currently in existence, of course! No cheap photo backgrounds for him or his staff! ;)
Thank YOU for spending so much time playing with my ridiculous idea!!
βYou must go deeper inside yourself to find your way out.β - Christoper Priest, βThe Affirmationβ
(Of course, the character who takes this advice is about to go completely crazy)
Haha, I know what you mean!
Thanks! Makes sense, but I hope I can catch them working.
The conclusion of @dylankkrp.bsky.social βs Dungeon Crawlers actual play! β€οΈπΆπΌ I wrote my Dungeon Babies #dnd variant rules right after the birth of our child and it was very personal to me honestly. Having this campaign end is like a baby growing up! π #ttrpg #dmsguild
Yeah agreed. But there really are a lot of manga artists where you can tell they only draw the people and leave the background stuff to assistants or just to clip art. Their people art can still have tons of style! π€·ββοΈ
Of course there are tons of manga artists working in sci-fi or historical settings who have that level of detail and are clearly not just tracing photos (or for the historical ones, they're kicking ass with the reference material)
To me it depends on how blatant it is. I'm sure Jiro Taniguchi uses tons of photo reference. Whether he ever literally traces photos I dunno, but if so he blends it well. Most 'turn a photo into a drawing' filters are still pretty obvious... but they might look 'good enough', I guess
Yeah, most 'realistic' backgrounds in manga for decades are traced (or lately, computer-filtered) photos. So I honestly don't mind that. I think it's ripping off other artists' work that is more of an issue, or in the Eguchi case, ripping off a living person's portrait photo.
Can the DUNGEON CRAWLERS face the other D of #dnd & save all of babydom? Or will these infant adventurers become dragon chow? πΆπ²

I'm doing a playtest of collaborative variant rules for Dreamland: Fairytale Portal Fantasy Beyond the Wall of Sleep!
Please join us on roll20 and Discord on Tuesday 3/17 at 7PM PDT. We'll create a Dreamland and then explore it together #ttrpg #dreamlands discord.gg/gH66AkY9?eve...
Thanks!!
Hi, I'm getting an error when I try to access your site -- "Anime News Network is currently unavailable. The connection broke midway. This may be a temporary glitch. Please try again later."
Does this just mean you're getting too much traffic? Should it clear up soonish? I'd love to know, thanks!
"Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga" in the '80s cynically joked about manga artists copying photos for reference. It's also a longstanding shameful thing in the USA comics industry -- TCJ used to have a "swipe file" feature. The Eguchi article suggests it's now more looked down upon than it one was
Interesting article about the recent controversy over mangaka Hisashi Eguchi tracing a photo of a well-known real person (and getting noticed and called out for it, which is the unusual 2025 part)
(The article has nothing to do with the company Tokyopop) www.tcj.com/traced-ident...
Whoa, it was a card based RPG!!?
You were a kickstarter backer for the graphic novel, right? Then you probably got the map then!
Truthfully it was Edward Martin III who came up with the idea and directed it and pulled it all together! He reached out to me about my art and we made a contract (and I drew new versions of some things).
Youβre too kind! π I did do a map of the Dreamlands long before I thought of the gameβ¦ so maybe it rose out of the mapβ¦.
But seriously book 3 is so genius! A whole different world in a different genre awaiting outside Gormenghast. Brilliant
Thank you so much! If itβs even legible thatβs greatβ Iβm usually too lazy to push the extra buttons to add fonts π π
Ahhhhhh⦠yeah, but from the tiny fragments of book 4, I feel poor Peake ended it at the best possible place
I'll trade you a "Song of Ice and Fire" ending for endings to "Abarat" and David Gerrold's "Chtorr" (though I suspect Gerrold is planning on running away from Chtorr for the rest of his life)
I've never read more than a page of George RR Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" novels, so it's much more important to me to say.... I really hope Clive Barker finishes "Abarat"
