Two inspiring talks took place over the past weeks. Stephen M. Kosslyn (Harvard University) spoke on AI and learning, and Karl J. Friston (UCL) presented on active inference. We are grateful that these distinguished scientists took the time to engage with our student research community.
🧠 The year started great with the TNC’s first talk by Attempto Award winner Dr. Philipp Klocke.
He presented his work on freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease, revealing abnormal activity in the subthalamic nucleus and highlighting the potential of adjusted deep brain stimulation.
The TNC this Winter Term brings highly renowned speakers from around the world to Tübingen to share advances in neuroscience.

We kicked off this semester with the “Newbie Retreat” to welcome the incoming first-year cohort! During an exciting weekend filled with hiking, bonfires, and great conversations, everyone had the chance to get to know each other beyond the classroom.

As part of the recent Neurocolloquium series, Dr. Flavio Donato (University of Basel) discussed the reinstatement of forgotten infantile memories, and Dr. Susanne Wegmann (DZNE Berlin) presented the causes and consequences of neuronal Tau protein 'activation'. Two very distinct and insightful talks!
🗣️The last Neurocolloquium welcomed Chris Easthope Awai, Chief Scientific Officer at the Lake Lucerne Institute. Thank you for an insighful talk on systemic challenges in neurorehabilitation and the critical role of data infrastructure in enabling personalized, AI-supported care.
This week's #Neurocolloquium, organized by @tueneurocampus.bsky.social, hosted Dr. Silies, from the Institute of Developmental Biology & Neurobiology, University Mainz. Students and faculty of the GTC enjoyed her talk on the connectivity patterns of neurons in the detection circuits of Drosophila!

The IMPRS Poster Day at the MPI for Biological Cybernetics brought together over 150 researchers.
The GTC collaborates closely with the IMPRS to shape an interdisciplinary research environment for neuroscience students in Tübingen.
