A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

We should definitely all be a lot more angry about data collection and storage. By governments and corporations.

What the headlines miss is the genuine heartbreak and hard decisions made by so many Canadians who have relatives and very close friends in the US. So many feel the only way to support is by staying away. The only way to defend our home is to stay away.
Families and friends are being torn apart.

After revelations that companies like Ring have been selling home security footage to ICE, the most common defense of keeping a camera up seems to be, “But what if I’m stalked?”

And as a violence researcher, I’m just here to state for the record that police do not care about your security footage.

There were multiple collisions and severe injuries during the qualifying runs too, several athletes stretchered off the course and taken to the hospital. It was an absolute mess. It’s bad enough to have iffy courses for any athlete, but when you have physically disabled athletes, it’s negligence.

This is against the notion of repentance. Genuine contrition requires a change of heart or behaviour. His wife changed. He did not. He hasn’t acknowledged his part at all. This is just straight up gas lighting and bullying dressed up as piety.

The intentional inversion of the meaning of this song strikes me as perverse. A small thing in the bigger picture, but, in an environment of lies and moral inversion, it feels noteworthy.

A lot of people say AI isn't very good for the world and its outputs are routinely unreliable, but these haters fail to see how it's revolutionizing how we incinerate schoolchildren.
