Yes, apropos dangers of supplements, there is an outbreak of extensively antibiotic-resistant Salmonella in #moringa supplements.

Moringa has absolutely no proven health benefits

but
#AntimicrobialResistance kills more than a million people every year

As US Is Poised To Lose Measles-Free Status, RFK’s New CDC Deputy Downplays Its Significance - KFF Health News Measles is at a 30-year high in the U.S., but technicalities may stave off the loss of the nation’s measles elimination status.

🦠My latest:

RFK's new CDC appointee shrugs off the potential loss of the U.S.’ measles-elimination status and deflects blame to other countries.

β€œIt’s just the cost of doing business with our borders being somewhat porous.”

My grandfather created the hepatitis B vaccine. Would he recognize public health in the U.S. today? Physician Emilie G.C. Thompson’s grandfather created the hepatitis B vaccine. Now she’s watching his legacy get dismantled.

Don't be fooled! This is NOT a venomous snake.

It just looks like one.

You're looking at a Giant Dead Leaf Mantis (Deroplatys desiccata), native to Malaysia, Philippines & Borneo.

These little guys are masters of disguise. This is their "scary sharp-toothed predator" trick, but they have MORE!

Zoonotic and Avian Pathogen Detections in Fecal and Sediment Samples - A Low-risk, High-throughput One Health Approach to Surveillance Many pathogens, both those with human spillover potential as well as avian-specific viruses, are maintained in wild bird populations. Really excited to see this come together across collaborators and led by an amazing postdoc - Dr. Hannah Wallace - and summer student Gabi Rzeszutek.

β€˜This is immoral’: Public Health experts respond to funding cuts to science & medicineΒ  Over the course of the year, the Trump administration cut billions in funding for the National Institutes of Health, and $500 million worth of mRNA vaccine research. β€œThere has been erosion of trust in science and public health and medicine,” said Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development at the Texas Children’s Hospital. β€œBut it’s not random, this occurred deliberately by bad actors for political motivation.” Dr. Francis Collins, the former director of the NIH, said he’s never seen anything like this. Cuts to NIH resulted in the cancellation of 383 clinical trials affecting 74,000 trial participants. β€œMany of these people very serious cancers for which we don't have a great answer, but maybe we're in the middle of discovering one, and then the trial gets stopped, and all that data is lost, and those people are basically left to drift,” Dr. Collins said. β€œThis is immoral to drop somebody into that space.”

β€œThere has been erosion of trust in science & public health & medicine,” vaccine & infectious disease expert @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social said in response to the Trump administration’s cuts to vaccine and medical research. β€œIt’s a terrible tragedy,” said Dr. Francis Collins, former NIH director.

Such a humbling honour to be a part of this amazing study. Thanks to those who led this critical work, to all of the team, and to the participants and communities who continue to help us identify and understand these ongoing public health impacts of #mpox

I think about this a lot!
Medical professionals and their societies are sounding the highest level of alarm about the dangers of rejecting science and favoring conspiracy theories and it is hardly breaking through.
That's how far down the rabbit hole the US is.
This fight is hard.
