Parents voices are often not consulted when decisions are made around services and so I wrote a report to try and ensure parents could be heard!

Parents voices are often not consulted when decisions are made around services and so I wrote a report to try and ensure parents could be heard!
Health visitors are often the only professionals who see a parent regularly in the 1st 5 years of their childβs life. When this service is cut, risks go unnoticed, mental health needs are missed, & preventable problems escalate!
Becoming a parent is a daunting & challenging time. My health visitor was invaluable so it makes me sad to hear that services are being cut further & further & that this support is just not available in the way it once was.

The implications are profound.
Happy volunteers week to all of the wonderful fellow volunteers that I know! Whether itβs with my work in perinatal mental health, maternity or on the school PTA I love every second of the work I do and being able to help others will always be a privilege β€οΈ
On Sunday Iβll be running London Landmarks half marathon for @mmhalliance.bsky.social. Iβm so nervous & it feels so far but knowing Iβm supporting parents makes it worth every step! Please donate if you can - even if just the cost of a coffee as every penny helps!! www.justgiving.com/page/leanne-...
Lovely evening with my fabulous friends listening to the inspiring Philippa Gregory talk about her new book and the equally inspirational women in history whose stories are unheard! Canβt wait to read!!
Not had a full read yet, but looks like an insightful and much needed piece of work. Health Visitors are heroes and we need more of them!
Thank you π
Thanks you for writing and sharing this. Itβs wonderful to hear your views on the value of Health Visitor. And your rich insight into the concerning impact that government cutbacks have had on our services is invaluable!
Thank you π
Thank you π Iβm hoping it portrays the reality for so many parents at the moment!!

Iβve written a report on the importance of health visiting and why we need to urgently fund the service to support parents like myself. You can take a read by clicking the report link within my Linktree profile: linktr.ee/leanne_howlett
What a fantastic report Leanne, thank you for taking the time and effort to advocate for a much misunderstood and under appreciated service. I continue to advocate for the difference investment in specialist public health nursing makes (HVs and School Nurses -which is another report!)
Thank you! βΊοΈ
So Iβve been working on this report behind the scenes for quite a while now on the importance of health visiting services and the huge hole it leaves when services are inadequately funded. Have a read here! linktr.ee/leanne_howlett

So privileged to have spoken today at the National maternity safety conference! Iβve done many talks over the years as an expert by experience so it was so fabulous to be able to talk as a nurse today! π
Definitely! Iβll drop you a message!
Depends on the uni Iβve learnt but not much! Itβs not great for mental health nurses to be honest!!
Aww thank you!!
Are there any nurses on here who do training work on a self employed basis who can speak to me about what needs to be put in place insurance wise etc?
Iβve done many talks over the years as an expert by experience but this will be my first one as a nurse!
feel so extremely privileged to have been asked to represent both nursing and community perinatal mental health teams in this important discussion! π #perinatalmentalhealth
One of the nursery nurses is a fab crocheter so Iβve joined it in the hope she will teach me on lunch breaks in the office π€£
π€£ our team has started a PMHT crafting WhatsApp so we can support each others crafting exploits this year! Iβm hoping it will force me into more self care π€£
So I tend to switch. Sometimes if I think I need to get notes uploaded quickly I will use a laptop but I prefer a notebook just because I feel a laptop acts as a bit of a barrier to the conversation!
Love this film!!!
This arrived in my Christmas post from @ihealthvisiting.bsky.social Will be very proud to display this on my lanyard when I go back to work on Thursday! A mark of my honorary fellowship of which I feel so very proud and humbled! π #parentchampion
I was literally just thinking this! So many more than on X! Worried itβs just going to become a spam site!
