Always funny to scroll replies and see how long it takes for someone to just say "Losing My Religion"

The Sixers dared to have *one month* this season of everyone being (mostly) healthy βΒ where they basically played .500 ball βΒ and they will spend the rest of the decade being karmically punished for their arrogance.
I agree!!
Please do not confuse me with the folks attempting to make specifically reasoned arguments as to why Bam Adebayo's 83-point performance Was Bad Actually. My grievances with Bam 83 are rooted in hate and hate alone.
Barely anyone in the office today βΒ guess I missed the email giving us the day off to grieve the game of basketball after Bam Adebayo's 83
Cam Payne three-point shooting in 11 games with Sixers:
First 10 games: 8-39
Last night vs. MEM: 8-8
Brian Windhorst ESPN propaganda proclaiming we must celebrate and not question Bam Adebayo's 83-point game
no
Oh well that's incorrect then of course I have to live this way
Which way is this now
Guy in the bathroom after the game complimented my Jrue Holiday jersey and followed with "They never shoulda traded him!" Had to do some very quick mental calculus on how much of the last 13 years I wanted to try to defend before it was my time at the urinal
Starting a THANK-YOU-SER-BI-A chant at the arena
Cam Payne 7-7 from three, I guess Daryl was right after all
Everyone coming out of the woodwork drag me to basketball hell tonight. Mike Muscala gonna unretire for one of the late games and score 40 and the game-winner.
How many future-saving lottery results can this team reasonably ask for??
I agree!!
yessssss
Yeah that makes sense! It was a huge hit and can for sure see it as a huge deal in cementing the original's generation-spanning immortality. Just saying that by the time 'Glee' covered it, it wasn't surprising to see it get spotlit like that, whereas five years earlier it absolutely would have been.
Sure, but that was at the end of a long revival tail βΒ 'Sopranos,' 'Laguna Beach,' the 2005 White Sox. By the time it got to 'Glee' it was an already-canonized song getting an extra boost rather than a forgotten one getting reclaimed.
^^signature hit for Bluesky Γyster Cult
A similar trajectory to "Don't Stop Believin'," I guess? To my (admittedly young/limited) experience, that song was seen as an ironic novelty at best until the mid-'00s when it started popping up everywhere, and within a few years it felt like it had always been one of the most beloved songs ever.
It shouldn't be that crazy to me that "Iris" eventually became This Song. One of the biggest hits of the '90s, hugely beloved and universally accessible, etc. etc. But it's still pretty crazy to me that "Iris" became This Song. For decades in between it felt like it was kinda nowhere.
I watched β120β religiously, and then I got to intern there one summer. Artists that came in that I can remember: Oasis, Radiohead, Veruca Salt, Faith No More, Sarah McLachlan, Meredith Brooks. Here are me and Sarah excited to watch the new Squirrel Nut Zippers video.
The general approval rating of Draft Kings and Fan Duel among normal people is probably pretty negative, but in a sort of obvious way. Some of us participate in it. Almost all of us find its ubiquity in sports annoying. Most nof us see it as a net negative but just accepting that fact is enough to sort of not investigate any further, the way people can kind of say "politicians are corrupt" and then not follow their local races or propositions.
fo his weekβs My Time Back, i wrote about @dannyfunt.bsky.social βs Everybody Loses, why i think itβs the most important sports book this decade, my own gambling addiction, and why iβm glad it was an illegal bookie who got their hooks in me mytimeback.beehiiv.com/p/everybody-...
I'm glad they didn't!
Incredible
"Time to Pretend" and "I Wanna Get Better" officially duking it out to be the Fake Trailer Song of the Decade. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzaC...
I did! Though that's only my second-favorite piece of Nicole Scherzinger alt-rock trivia (first place going to her having briefly been a member of Days of the New)
Text from Tom Breihan's Stereogum Alternative Number Ones writeup of 311's "Down": "You can't really tell what S.A. Martinez is saying through most of his "Down" verses, and that's probably a good thing. The stuff he's saying is stupid. "While I scatter my spit, I dream of juice": Stupid. "You know we dazzle like ghetto box boomin' battles/ Rattle inside your head, feel redeemed like cola bottles": Stupid. "We're dope, kid, change like the chameleon and the channel whenever the wack show Real World is on": Stupid, and also The Real World was still pretty good back then. But when you can't really hear the words, you just get the cadence instead. You get that this guy is rapping and that he's really feeling himself."
I had zero idea, for instance, that there are lyrics dissing 'The Real World,' which undoubtedly would've made me love this song even more back in 1996
My favorite thing about this post is when Tom writes out the lyrics to verses that I have rapped along to phonetically for a full 30 years and have actually understood maybe about 20% of
I support this take but can only cosign it in theory not in practice
