The connections between LLMs and fascist orality are intriguing - maybe thereβs something comforting about both in the sense that LLMs are obsequious statistical speech and fascist leaders reduce history/complexity to a single supremacist story

Yes - as Iβm not a political scientist Iβve been trying to reflect on and disentangle authoritarianism and fascism in relation to this present moment.
Yes I think the MΓΆllers piece makes a really compelling argument but I havenβt read the Akbari piece so Iβll definitely check that out.
This is one of the key things I've been thinking about - what's new or different versus what is the same but intensified with technology and/or tech ideologies.

Such regimes regularly used their most advanced technologies to exploit nature, steal land, subjugate women, discipline gender-nonconforming people, and dehumanize racialized populations. Over history, various ideologies emerged to justify such adventures in resource-hoarding.
Technofascism did not begin in 2025. Rather paradoxically, it has its roots in Western liberal democracy: colonial and imperialist systems that were always predicated on human rights for some and conquest and extraction for others.
