Did someone say there were Nazis around?
Yes, that's me, being a typical Dutch housewife.
(photo taken at the Legermuseum in Delft, they let me borrow their Sten, made me give it back afterwards, unfortunately)
A brown tabby cat with white paws and chest sits with regal posture while glaring at the camera. Half of her face is shrouded in a sharp shadow as the sun illuminates her from the side.
Puffin has further refined her supervillain glare: So fierce! Such majesty! What poise!

I've seen people with visual impairments ask folks to consider this with user names, too. If you put a bunch of emojis before and/or after your name a screenreader will rattle off the descriptions of every emoji, every time.
Two cats sitting closely together on a desk. One, Frankie, is giving the other, Joe, a hard stare . Joe is looking down, like he knows what he did. #CatsOfBluesky

It's a sliding glass door in a kitchen and on one side there's an empty box but it is lying on its side so that it's open. Face is tipped over. Then outside there is a cat sitting outdoors, looking inside, but the way the picture is composed the reflection of the box superimposes on the cat. So in one of the reflections it looks like the cat is in the box and the other box is empty
Ladies and gentleman and vastly more interesting genders: we got him. We finally caught Schrodinger's cat.

A cat wearing a “cone of shame” has it pressed squarely against its person’s face.
“CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? I SAID MY FOOD DISH IS EMPTY.”
No idea what Gizmo is doing here but he seems comfortable 😹😹🦁🦁 #jellybellyfriday #teamfloof #catsofbluesky
A fluffy tan tortoise shell tabby Maine Coon cat lays on a fireplace mantle next to a clear vase filled with marbles.
It has been brought to my attention that I have not posted enough #cat #photos this week, so here's another of Tallulah on the mantle which is one of her favorite places of late. She also is the PERFECT accompaniment to that vase.
In this comic by War and Peas, a person sets a mouse trap with cheese, mocking the mouse by saying 'Haha, dumb mouse.' The mouse, near the cheese, responds 'Yeah. I do love cheese.' The mouse then expresses its love for cheese, stating 'I love cheese so much, I'm prepared to die for it,' and asks the person if they have ever loved anything so much. The person, reflecting on the question, responds sadly with 'No...' while the mouse is trapped. Feeling remorseful, the person opens the trap and frees the mouse, who escapes with the cheese. The final panel shows the mouse joining other mice in a cozy home, saying 'Haha, humans are chumps.'

An extreme close-up of Ka'ra the tuxedo cat's sleeping face. At this range, you can see pink skin beneath her black fur, and her little hairless lip is sticking out.

(I'll stop posting pictures of my cats now. 😬)
What is that light in the sky? The answer to one of humanity's more common questions may emerge from a few quick observations. For example -- is it moving or blinking? If so, and if you live near a city, the answer is typically an airplane, since planes are so numerous and so few stars and satellites are bright enough to be seen over the glare of artificial city lights. If not, and if you live far from a city, that bright light is likely a planet such as Venus or Mars -- the former of which is constrained to appear near the horizon just before dawn or after dusk. Sometimes the low apparent motion of a distant airplane near the horizon makes it hard to tell from a bright planet, but even this can usually be discerned by the plane's motion over a few minutes. Still unsure? The featured chart gives a sometimes-humorous but mostly-accurate assessment. Dedicated sky enthusiasts will likely note -- and are encouraged to provide -- polite corrections. Chart translations: Italian, German, Latvian, Persian, Polish, Spanish, and Turkish

Pants the cat sitting on the back of a chair looking interested
Pants is very interested in you having a good day.
A cat in Reykjavik. Probably not a street cat, as he was too well-fed and okay with humans coming up to pet him.
I've done many things in Iceland since I've been here, but one of the most exciting was getting to pet this cat.
It was larger than the Earth. It was so big you could actually see it on the Sun's surface without magnification. It contained powerful and tangled magnetic fields as well as numerous dark sunspots. Labelled AR 3664, it developed into one of the most energetic areas seen on the Sun in recent years, unleashing a series of explosions that led to a surge of energetic particles striking the Earth, which created beautiful auroras. And might continue. Although active regions on the Sun like AR 3664 can be quite dangerous, this region's Coronal Mass Ejections have not done, as yet, much damage to Earth-orbiting satellites or Earth-surface electrical grids. Pictured, the enormous active region was captured on the setting Sun a few days ago from Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy. The composite image includes a very short exposure taken of just the Sun's surface, but mimics what was actually visible. Finally, AR 3664 is now rotating away from the Earth, although the region may survive long enough to come around again. Gallery: Earth Aurora from Solar Active Region 6443
