This is so despicable.
Know that you can still provide @trevorproject.bsky.social's direct number (866-488-7386 or text to 678-678) to folks who need it.
Given that this also cuts needed funding for this work, it's a good day to donate to The Trevor Project here:
The BB and Silver Snakes for the win!
How it feels communicating with politicians who are proposing we cut clean energy policies, healthcare, and distribute tax dollars to the wealthy.
A total capitulation that makes me feel sick to my stomach. When is opposition going to really get started?
Do you know when the recording will be available?
Show Up For Our Libraries! By eliminating the only federal agency dedicated to funding library services, the Trump administration's Executive Order is cutting off at the knees the most beloved and trusted of American institutions and the staff and services they offer. ALA American Library Association. #ForOurLibraries
π¨NEWπ¨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.
Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

We need to organize--letβs help each other.
NIH is cancelling grants, but it's not clear exactly what they're cancelling and why. Without this information, we can't respond.
I've started a Google Sheet to track grant cancellations.
Please add any canceled grants you know of and spread the word!
I have no words.
The campaign against trans rights is also about stripping away everyoneβs protections against discrimination, reviving, as Douglass put it βthe moral blindnessβ of those who βpersuade themselves that they are safe, though the rights of others may be struck down.β

How exciting! And to be "at large" just sounds impressive/mysterious.
In the years I've done this, I actually found that it's great for training students because (1) even published articles still have limitations, and (2) students are often *far* too critical of aspects that aren't a really a problem. It offers an opportunity to correct their barometer for design.
"Become a reviewer" for one of 4-5 recent articles. Split into groups to discuss strengths/limitations of their assigned article and then come back to the broader class to share "take homes." Whole class gets to hear about cutting edge work and I could guide on what is/isn't a reasonable critique.
No movie/sequel pair are of both (1) equal quality and (2) the same general vibe as are Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Alien and Aliens are of equal quality, but the former is a horror and the latter is an action movie. Terminator and Terminator 2? Again equal quality, but very different in vibe.
I'm hiring for a study coordinator to join the MAPPED lab. Please distribute to anyone who may want to work on a couple of clinical trials with youth and families focused on interventions for teen self-injury and borderline personality disorder features. utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/174...
None of their other aims yielded anything and the sample is about 100 students. However, this feels important to get out there -- especially in the context of the current political climate in the US. Ideas on how to distribute?
Specifically, they looked at the relation between academic stress and suicidal ideation among undergraduates and found that the relation is moderated by experiences of everyday discrimination such that the relation is stronger for those who experience sexism and racism.
It would be helpful to have a better method of publishing/distributing a single, and potentially important, finding -- one that's probably still too "stand alone" for a brief report. An undergraduate found something that could really inform future work, but nothing else in their project panned out.
A new paper out using an amazing data resource at University of Utah to examine suicide decedents with and without borderline personality disorder. doi.org/10.1017/S003...

Thanks, Jess and Colette! I'd love to be added.
100%. This includes student emotions that result from their own tough choices (e.g., you chose not to prioritize writing a paper because you felt overwhelmed and now are upset that you feel behind your peers). It's really tough!
@querby-lab.bsky.social If you haven't seen this yet - I know you'll like it.
Excellent. Thank you!
Thank you. This looks very helpful!
Thank you! These look fantastic!
Thanks, friend. I honestly would love a catch-up because I miss your face! This would be secondary to hearing how you are.
This is *so* important. Following these recommendations is the very least we can do! psycnet.apa.org/record/2023-...
