With every passing day, the more obvious it is to me that Evangelical Christian moral absolutism is the root cause of the fascism in America today. In practice, these people believe that gunning someone down in the street is morally indistinguishable from lying to your kids about Santa Claus since they’re both just sins that can easily be forgiven. Marimar Martinez was shot five times by an ICE officer in Chicago who went on to brag about leaving seven holes in her body.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

@everyone I’ve been trying to force myself to stream for nearly 4 hours and I don’t think it’s going to happen at this point. I’d like to explain why. Today (or yesterday by now, technically), ICE agents murdered a woman in broad daylight and cold blood in Minneapolis. They orphaned the 6 year old daughter of a veteran because an innocent woman inconvenienced them while they were in the process of trying to kidnap a family. As many of you know, I have deep ties to Minneapolis since I live in that part of the country and frequent the city regularly. I am heartbroken and I am angry. I’m angry that this is being done in my lifetime and in my country and in my communities. Even in my city, which is much smaller, ICE’s gestapo agents are currently patrolling and scouting to try to hunt down members of my local community, and it’s only a matter of time before they bring their violence and hatred to my streets. Right now, I do not know how to get in front of a camera and play a silly video game and pretend like everything is normal and ok when it clearly is not. I am hurting, as are many of the people around me. This country is a mess and the people responsible grow bolder by the day. I need to speak about this issue on stream but I am not emotionally prepared to do so yet. We cannot allow such evil and violence to dictate our lives, laws and norms. However, it’s important to be present with the people you love most when times are difficult, and that’s what I’ve been doing tonight. I will return to stream in a day or two and we’ll tackle this mess together. I love you all very much, and I’ll see you soon. 💜
