It has yet to happen:

LBJ? Nope.
Reagan’s ventures? Nope.
Bush I was celebrated for it
Bush II? Nope.
Obama’s drone bombings? Nope.
And now the current president, the most brazen of all.

Hold. Them. To. Account.

Because what is it good for?

Absolutely nothing. 5/5

As a country, the United States seems to get a war itch every 10-20 years. Presidents light the match and Congress holds the fuse.

It is time for society to stop being gullible and to understand there are laws. May those who continue to shed blood indiscriminately be held to account. 4/5

Too often, those without experience and no skin in the game send our draftees or volunteers into harm’s way on a whim and a lie.

Vietnam: Gulf of Tonkin
Iraq II: Uranium
Iran: Pick a lie, any lie

They send others’ kids to slaughter. And they care little about civilian deaths. 3/5

My other grandfather was too old for WWII. He glorified war like the Republicans have done my whole life. He gave his sons little choice but the military.

One time he started yapping about some WWII awesomeness. My veteran grandfather stopped him in his tracks saying, “Oh, were you there?” 2/5

War. What is it good for? 🧵

My grandfather was quick to join up for WWII. He taught me of the horrors of war. He told us at a young age he’d take us to Canada himself if there were a draft. I came by my pacifism through listening to reality. 1/5

Opinion: In Mendocino County classrooms, identity is not a threat • The Mendocino Voice | Mendocino County, CA Federal bills that label gender identity as “sexual” don’t protect children — they isolate them and put schools in an impossible position.

So, please, wherever and whenever you can, please stand up for our trans neighbors. It is the right thing to do, the ethical thing to do, the just thing to do, and relevant to our nudist community, the body-positive thing to do. 6/6

Now, I truly hope you support trans people’s rights and ability to live freely in a country that claims to love freedom because you’re simply a good person.

But ignorance and misinformation can take their toll. But in 2025, it is no longer an excuse. And not speaking up can be deadly. 5/6

We are knee-deep in demonization. Recent mass shootings have seen trans people be accused by the right wing without a shred of evidence. And people credibly linked to or enabling those linked to pedophilia and sexual assault project what is left of their guilty consciences on the community. 4/6

New Research Reveals How the Nazis Targeted Transgender People Last year, a German court acknowledged the possibility that trans people were persecuted by the Nazis

We’ve seen rhetoric rise from ignorance to demonization in a very short period. History shows that the targeting of trans people, once weaponized, is aimed at wiping out a culture and population. 3/6

If we in the nudist community truly believe in bodily autonomy and body freedom, then it is built into our ethics to be supporting the trans community wholeheartedly.

The language being used against them has been seen in fascist authoritative regimes before with disastrous consequences. 2/6

🧵 The continued attacks on trans people from the US federal government, the GOP, the shameful Dems who are scared of standing up, Kansas’s GOP, and right-wing media and social media are abominable.

More in the nudist community need to defend the trans community more vocally and consistently. 1/6

We got a paltry couple inches when we were promised a foot. Pretty sad day here. Glad you could have some fun.

Also, I do get caught up in if I’m making my story into something bigger. I try to avoid that and make it uniquely personal and see what people can get from that. When I generalize, I feel it’s not my best writing. And that’s where the personal essay can take a while to edit.

I find it much easier to write an experience piece than a research piece. There’s more freedom in it. So for me it’s two very different processes. Personal: throw it on the page then edit (almost like a social post). Research: agonize over every word and citation. And edit heavily.

One thing about blocking is that you can’t see the trail of comments so I went to Clearsky to see if I could see them there because I wanted to quote it properly. And that’s where I learned they griped about being blocked.

Isn’t it weird how “I’m sorry if you were offended” is worse than not addressing it at all? You’d think defiance and silence would be worse, but there’s little else designed to make people feel small like an “it’s your problem not mine” nonpology.

Ok that’s hilarious. Was not expecting the smallest waterfall on earth when I opened the photo.

When you know you didn’t choose this, that it’s a part of you, it’s harder still to see society push you to the corner and not take your concerns and rights seriously.

Ultimately, I knew at 6 I was different, really knew around 15, embraced it at 29, and am keen to represent it today. 12/12

It’s hard to know who you are and know that your most authentic being will be treated like a joke, misinterpreted, misrepresented, or condemned. Harder still when the community that is marginalized is one that can be quite welcoming and among the least judgmental you’d meet. 11/12

Still, in my terrestrial life, I didn’t know of anyone who lived similarly. In grad school, which involved a lot of outdoors activity, I decided to just out myself and it was the freest I’d ever felt. Then I knew I needed to live near nude venues so I could have a social component to it. 10/12

Around then I found clothesfree dot com, which opened my eyes to the reality that a community like me existed the world over. (See, good can come from the internet!) And the forums they hosted in the early 2000s were a vibrant place to ask and learn. 9/12

As I gained my own bedrooms in the latter half of school, I could live the lonely nudist life from time to time. But it still seemed like an isolated existence.

Living with a friend out of college, I tried to make our space c/o, but he put the lid on that quickly. 8/12

With shared living quarters, opportunities were nil. Sophomore year, friends joked cruelly about a classmate who wrote an essay about streaking campus. Who would do that, they brayed?

All signs pointed me further to the margins. 7/12

Freshman year of college, I heard that someone on my floor was walked in on meditating nude. And the response from most was to poke fun at her and condemn it. That didn’t bode well for embracing who I was. But I did discuss it with a new friend. She’d come from a c/o family. 6/12

So when my friend started blabbing about the pool, I became aloof, almost pretending it didn’t happen. Because for him it was a moment in time. For me, it was who I was, who I am. And ridicule trumped kindness whenever possible in fellow kids’ reactions. So I hid it even more. 5/12

In gym class, I had no issue with showers after swimming or changing. And I remember around the same time looking to see if I might have any naked friends, finally finding one who let me and joined me in a skinny dip in his pool. I still didn’t want to be found out, though. 4/12

But I think the day I realized this was a part of me was when I removed my clothes before studying in 9th or 10th grade. It just felt normal, though for my surroundings it was anything but. So while it was normal for me, it’s when I realized I never wanted to be found out. 3/12

The signs were there when I was very young: the Pecos Bill story I once relayed here, wanting to be an animal so I wouldn’t have to wear clothes, removing some clothes when home alone after playing ball. 2/12
