When KFC makes the Doubledown a permanent menu item?!
When KFC makes the Doubledown a permanent menu item?!
Someone talk me out of buying a Steam Deck right now.
Disclaimer: This is a joke, like what you like, Colleen Hoover just isn't for me.
Honestly, if the "It Ends With Us" drama causes Colleen Hoover to retire I'll be team Justin AND team Blake. #BookSky
Call me Morton the way I be protecting you from ICE.
Everyone understands these principles on a subconscious layer, now if only more people would think about why we all make that a popular story over and over again. #Severance
Once again a famous and popular media property tells the story of a corrupt elite keeps its power by isolating people, keeping them in fear of one another using false propaganda, and their control begins to slip when people begin interact with one another and see one another as people.

That's my favorite song from "Les Miserables".
Hey, does anyone have any resources to read more about J.R.R. Tolkien's anti-allegory stance or is it pretty much just his forward (introduction?) to Fellowship?
I want to better understand his perspective. #BookSky
Is it considered a hot take to say that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande's version of "Defying Gravity" is better than the one on the original Bradway soundtrack?
Like they're both great, but something about Cynthia Erivo's voice is PERFECT for that song.
That's how it is with my library. Like they have the entire second "First Law" trilogy by Josh Abercrombie, but none of the first or the standalones. They have book 4 of "Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch, but no others. I could keep going. Like I get underfunding and all, but it's not consistent
They have the 4th "Rivers of London" book, but none of the others. They have One Piece volumes 8-15, but no others. They have Berserk Deluxe 3, but none of the others. They have the second "First Law" trilogy by Joe Abercrombie, but not the first trilogy or the standalones
It's across all genres and it's not consistent with what they do have at all. Like the thing that sparked this was looking for "The Body Never Lies" by Alice Miller, i knew that was niche-ish.
But then they have NONE of the Expanse books, but do have "The Mercy Of Gods" by the same author.
Do I just have a super weird and niche taste in books, or does my local library system (probably due in part to underfunding) just have a really bad selection of books? I feel like whenever I go to get a specific book, they only have it like 20% of the time.

Overall, the book was legitimately nothing like I was expecting and widely felt like a quickly thrown together pitch deck from an extremely talented writer. I don't know what (at least) 9 more sequels could possibly do, or if they're all standalones. I think there was potential, but work was needed.
The cover of the book "Every Heart A Doorway" by Seanan McGuire. Depicts a green forest background with an evening sunlight shining through illuminating a partially open wooden door. Over the door is the title in white font and the authors name below it. There is also an orange circle to the right of the Doorway saying "Hugo and Nebula Award Winner".
Just finished "Every Heart A Doorway" by Seanan McGuire. It was good, but was largely carried by it's prose and characters rather than by it's storytelling and plot. The 1st third was slow and hard to get into. The 2nd third was GREAT. The 3rd third was WAY too fast and sloppy. #BookSky
What am I supposed to do when I find a highlight worthy quote in a library book?! Ignore it? Deface library property? I need to highlight the quote and then never ever return to it, like a good reader!
And that's why I spent another $300 at the bookstore. For physical copies I keep.

Isn't it weird how (basically) every single post-apocalyptic story that has some semblance of a happy ending also has a message about how community is what helps us survive and rebuild? I wonder why that is.
(I know why that is)

You know what's not talked about enough? How Charles Dickens clearly had ADHD. He got like 3 sentences into "A Christmas Carol" before he got sidetracked on a like 2 page diatribe about whether a door nail or a coffin nail is more dead. #BookSky
@danielgreene.bsky.social
I want those Dungeon Crawler Carl books pls!
(Also unrelated to that, how can I get in touch with you to pay forward a free shirt you gave me on twitter about a year (2? What is time?) ago. How can I contact you about that?)
I feel like listening to Audible Original Audio Dramas is probably what it's like to be in the self aware stage of a substance addiction. They're not good, not even one of them, I'm aware that I am annoyed by them and feel like I wasted 2-5 hours after every one of them, but I can't stop doing it.
