Our Crowdfunder to get 35 emerging #KidLit illustrators from underrepresented backgrounds to showcase our work at London Book Fair has been extended. We're almost there in making this happen.

Hello hello, we've had brilliant support for our Pathways London Book Fair Crowdfunder, thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
If we could get to £2500 by tomorrow that would be amazing. Please share, thank you

I was hoping I might have gotten some iron before trekking down to London, but nope.
Thank goodness for my wheelchair and power assist, or I would be pretty much stuck in the house.
I cannot tolerate oral iron. She told them this and got back “oh but can’t she just try these capsules?” 🤦🏼♀️
Why did they think I was attempting to take the lowest dose liquid?! Just for fun? Trust me, if I could simply take a tablet or capsule and start feeling better, I would!
I am so fed up of this damn anaemia. So little energy to do anything - as if it wasn’t challenging enough already!
I am grateful for the NHS, but my GP shouldn’t have to fight ridiculously hard to get gastro to agree to an iron infusion.
It’s a great opportunity to support disabled, neurodivergent and global majority illustrators :)

London Book Fair is a HUGE international stage that brings all things books together under one roof, from publishing stands, to workshops and agent meets - it all happens under one roof.
To be given this opportunity is
incredible… but, to make it happen we have one final push.
Support diverse illustrators!
For the past two years I have been a mentee on the ‘Pathways into Children’s Publishing’ course.
It has been an amazing experience, and we are now trying to raise funds to show our final work at London Book Fair next month.
An emperor penguin walks toward the camera on the sea ice with an ice shelf in the background
The #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is an emperor penguin that came strolling past me as I laid quietly on the ice and watched it just be a penguin. Which includes being curious, a bit wary, but mostly seemingly unbothered. By anything really.

Nine king penguins preening or sleeping on the grass of the Falkland Islands while sheep graze in the background
King penguins preening, loafing and probably sleeping is today's #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD. King penguins are the second largest penguin species alive today, but still only about half the size of the largest, the emperor.

A small part of an emperor penguin colony, with dozens of fluffy grey chicks and several adults in attendance on the ice.
To any potential reviewers: when I publish our emperor penguin tracks I want you to know that kids gave our penguins names like Big Mac Turbo 2000, Sparkles, & Golden Princess. And they will, nonnegotiably, be referred to as such in the paper. Thank you for understanding.

Toothpaste is a particular pain because (at least here in the UK) it’s not classed the same as food, so the colourings are “cosmetic”. My partner’s toothpaste has the same blue they use to paint trains!
I haven’t eaten M&Ms in about 25 years because I’m allergic to artificial colourings (weird allergy, I know).
Other sweets are now safe (they’ve switched to more natural colours here), but not M&Ms or Skittles.
The most frustrating coloured things are toothpaste and medicine.
I am now “opted out” of this new policy - but I have to contact the shop again to actually get my parcel.
If you’re disabled/can’t easily get to your local parcel shop, I’d recommend “opting out” of this happening to you.
After ‘attempting’ delivery (incorrectly) the driver took my parcel to a local newsagent.
I am a wheelchair user and can’t get to said newsagent. Apparently this is not their problem. Sigh.
Attempt 2: DPD. Normally pretty good in my area… not this time.
They have a “new project” called “Can’t-Wait”. Which by default tells drivers to deliver to your local parcel shop if you’re not in.
Except I *was* in, they just didn’t buzz the right flat 🤦🏼♀️
Super frustrated at delivery couriers right now. Being disabled, I rely a lot on online shopping.
Yodel was meant to deliver a parcel last week. They just left it in their depot and didn’t bother. Had to contact the shop so they could get it back and re-send it.
