Immigrants don't steal jobs. There's piles and piles of research on this. But even if it wasn't a xenophobic myth, I'd still rather lose my job to an immigrant than to AI. Immigrants gotta eat. Gotta pay bills. I get it. Can't be mad about that. They're part of our communities, too.
But AI isn't.

Voice acting is....acting. With your voice. Nobody complains that household name film and TV actors use their same voices for almost all of their work. Because it doesn't matter.
An increased range just means casting an increased net. But range still isn't as important as your actual acting skills.

Honestly it depends on the story's overall themes, tone, goals, etc. To say there always needs to be comeuppance or redemption is intellectually dishonest, since every narrative has something different to say. All we can really analyze is intent vs. efficacy in conveying said intent case-by-case.
And let’s be absolutely clear: the “they” in this statement who aren’t ready for said conversation are the parents.

I'm not a technophobe; I just believe in creating and using tech responsibly. If genAI was trained on public domain works only, ran on clean and sustainable energy, and was deployed to help streamline creative labor instead of fully replacing it, I wouldn't be so vocally against it.

A good story isn't judged by the public on how well it fits a formula. It's not experienced as a Hero's Journey checklist; MUST hit certain beats or it fails the assignment.
It's whether it gets the audience to feel and remembers it long after.
