Daily Mail Headline: Pupils' drawings could be blasphemous under Islamic law, Labour councils tell schools - while music and dance classes may go against the teachings of Islam

Oh boy! What a headline...

Ask yourself:

"What am I being asked to believe?"

"Who am I being told to blame?"

Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.

Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧡

A reminder that Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch and the entire Conservative-supporting press have spent the past week lambasting Keir Starmer for not joining the Iran war.

Here's what has happened since then to public opinion

Ah, watching that Strachan side was the least stressed I’ve ever been watching the Saints.
If we scored first the fans could actually relax, because no way were they ever letting it slip!

Trying to make a controversy out of nothing. The ref blew his whistle as soon as the goalie kicked the ball. Everything that happed after that was a nonevent.

The enthusiasm of most billionaire media outlets in the US and UK for Trump’s illegal assault on Iran is another reminder of how deranged, perverse and frankly psychopathic these organisations are.

This is incredible. UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: β€œA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said β€œwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said β€œmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

In Gorton and Denton the Conservatives beat the Monster Raving Loony Party by just 550 votes.
Is Kemi moving the Tory’s towards the Loony’s in order to stop them taking more of their vote share?

It's so funny to stick with 'family voting' in light of the actual results because it means you need to convince yourself that over 10% of the entire electorate are Muslim housewives who have been forced by their, presumably socially conservative, husbands to vote for the most left wing party

As I write, sewage is pouring into three rivers in my constituency – the River Itchen, the River Meon and the River Hamble.

In the first seven weeks of 2026, sewage has been flowing into the River Itchen for over 400 hours and counting in just one monitoring site, near Headbourne Worthy. This is a protected and rare chalk stream that runs right through the centre of the city of Winchester.

The River Itchen is one of just six chalk streams in England that support the endangered Atlantic Salmon population, which is currently laying eggs needed for the species' survival. Project White Hart, the campaign to save this species, has warned that a single major event could be catastrophic.

In the River Meon, there have been over 500 confirmed sewage dumps this year alone. This is happening where beavers have recently been reintroduced, and the sewage flows right through the South Downs National Park. A recent report from the South Downs National Park Authority found that 90% of the park's rivers are not meeting a good standard for nature. If we cannot protect nature and landscapes in our National Parks, how can the public have confidence in our ability to protect them anywhere?

Action on this cannot wait.

Failure to protect Hampshire’s chalk streams will lead to ecological catastrophe. These habitats are exceptionally rare, rich in biodiversity, support unique flora and fauna, and are impossible to recreate or replace.

Will the government introduce an immediate package of support to clean up the sewage spills that have poured into Hampshire’s rivers this winter and commit to an urgent meeting with me to act on these spills and safeguard our chalk streams from future discharges?

This is unacceptable. If we fail to protect chalk streams now, we risk losing them forever.
