βI personally do not think itβs uncouth to throw [a**] and have a political opinion or to call out inept officials who paint themselves as traditional and outwardly pious.β Uprooter @angelymercado.bsky.social spitting bars about Bad Bunny & politics mediamercado.substack.com/p/bad-bunny-...
And I've since written some updates <3 mediamercado.substack.com/p/bad-bunny-...
Those power lines signified a lot in bad bunnyβs halftime show, gonna cite the official bad bunny x climate correspondent @angelymercado.bsky.social gizmodo.com/bad-bunny-el...
How long has Bad Bunny been political? Forever (x100pre lol).
I complied a highlight reel after a few years of writing about climate and environmental themes in his work:

My new goal is to be published in @tacobellquarterly.org mainly because I have stories that intersect between Taco Bell in NYC and a random Taco Maker in my family's hometown in Puerto Rico.
The main thing I've learned this whole journey is nobody knows what they're doing so you're probably doing fine!
I'm a regular researcher/ assistant for Miranda Green. The journo behind @atmosmag.bsky.social's newsletter The Understory. We recently tackled info on AI & data centers. Yes, your power bill goes up, and yes, it means more pollution. Read more here:

I was recently asked how I survive as a freelance writer... the answer is that half of my work isn't even writing currently. I'm also a fact-checker and an editorial assistant (which I love), but I do have to write a lot less than I'd like to.
Yes it's the shopping season, but please shop consciously! Don't go into debt for things you may not even like that much.
From article: During the drive to the station, prosecutors say she made statements to officers about immigration enforcement, including, βWhy are you doing this to your people?β and βWhat are you going to tell your children about what you do?β
I'm hoping she struck a nerve.
Why are alt-crunchy people worried about red40 and Tylenol when they should worry about PFAS?
It's so weird to freelance while it feels like the country is rapidly declining. But my family survived decades of authoritarianism... So maybe, I can as well?
So many people that I know who grew up in LIC can no longer afford to live there. Maybe they finally can.
The collapse of science and climate journalism this year has been heartbreaking. But it also feels amazingly demoralizing.
If I was really rich, I would not complain about mayors refusing to meet with me; I would just buy a lot of Lego sets and spend extended periods in Tokyo, Italy, and France
Just know that every mass media layoff will disproportionately affect Black & Latin@ journalists. Their peers will see support and success and we'll be pushed further into the margins.
I feel like our stories are disappearing and there isn't much we can do about it.
I wrote an essay about my grandmother's powder box for @opensecretsmag.bsky.social. Writing this reminds me that some of the objects that we own anchor us to people and memories that we can't physically access anymore.

Movements like the βNo Kingsβ protests are more than events. Theyβre on-ramps for civic engagement. nonprofitquarterly.org/no-kings-pro... @angelymercado.bsky.social #nokings
Is this a clue about myself? Cause I'm only productive 3 times a week after 9 p.m.
Besties, you need to a hobby to build community and find ways to have fund outside of just retail therapy. So I wrote a guide. My latest:

βAndrew Cuomo will spend much of tonight attacking me. He is a desperate man lashing out because he knows that the one thing heβs always cared aboutβpowerβis now slipping away from him.β
Yoooooooooo
Protests are not just a one-off event, they're a pathway to more civic engagement and organizing.
I wrote about the impact of No Kings Day for @npquarterly.bsky.social
Hey all, just an independent science and climate fact-checker and writer based out of NYC that's open for assignments! Hoping to connect with some editors on here who are looking for nuanced reporting.
*deletes angry paragraph*
Bad Bunny is headlining the 2026 super bowl halftime show. But did you all know that his work references a lot of infrastructural and climate issues? I explain:
