Lyrical illustration in a muted, earthy green palette with pops of pink of a swampy river near a distant church, an animal skull propped on a rock, and a blue chicken drinking on the riverbank
Circular pink and light blue logo with the letters SCQ
I guested on the new arc of Side Character Quest, a "one-on-one actual play podcast set in a world where cicadas sing, rivers flow, magic thrums through the air, and all of itβs surrounded by a single massive Wall as ancient as history itself"! tinyurl.com/bdz5a82r (SCQ created by Ty Von Plinsky)
Secretary Bird, what about you?
the HPV vaccine is fucking incredible, period end of that's it
I don't think people's problem with, for example, the paper's decade-long crusade putting a big ol' target on trans people's backs can be accurately described as NYT doing "reporting that doesn't always 100% accord with what advocacy groups want."
digital watercolor and ink drawing of a Brown and White dog with short floppy ears and a badass scar down one cheek dressed like a Cutter from Blades in the Dark. She's wearing a long brown duster with partial armor down one arm, holding a longsword casually over one shoulder, and tenderly reaching up to touch a bright yellow and pink bird that's flying happily towards her.
When you ask people what TTRPG character their dog would be, you get the best answers. This is Pixie, a Cutter from Blades in the Dark, a dog who's seen the roughest parts of Duskwall but is known and loved best for her big heart. Thank you Ben & Ada for donating to the Publishing for MN fundraiser!
Small grey tabby curled up asleep on big soft grey couch.
Brown tabby asleep in a plush cat bed that looks like a green cactus.
Tortoiseshell cat does biscuits on a grey cat bed where a small tabby sleeps a few inches away.
Just some very perfect adoptable cats snoozin' at the Cattyshack Cat Cafe.

Let's see if we can raise $10,000 today for red state or national queer orgs. Post proof here in the replies that you donated to a red state or national queer organization and I will share.
Who's with me?
(I can't donate myself because I'm a journalist who covers these orgs)
Thank you!
Of course isnβt just driving. Itβs voting. Working. Travelling. Picking up a package. Applying for credit. Applying for a job. Renting a room. Filling prescriptions. Visiting loved ones in the hospital. Not expired either, but legally invalid.
So, consider how this goes:
They deploy ICE to remove people who are βillegalβ
Kavanaugh says US citizens will be fine, once they show their IDs (sure, buddy)
Kansas just showed us they can & will invalidate the LEGALLY ISSUED IDs of CITIZENS immediately & without warning
Because they want to
The intention of the anti trans project, from βjust asking questionsβ to βfairness in sportsβ was always this: to make it illegal and impossible to be trans in society.
To create pretexts for our arrest and removal, if we donβt put ourselves under house arrest.
To punish us for being different.
Kansas has declared you unprotected by the 14th and by extension, the constitution.
For the purposes of the government of Kansas, we do not receive and we are not entitled to the protections granted to all persons.
The implication of non-personhood is plain.
Meanwhile in Prince Morsockβs royal courtβ¦
This is like if 2/3 of the people in Wyoming fled the state.
thank you so much!
beauuuutiful
Book cover of Pop Goes the Nursery Rhyme superimposed with the butterfly logo for the Monarch Award. Cover shows an upset secretary bird in a purple turtleneck gesturing at a smiling weasel in pink overalls.
Woohoo! Pop Goes the Nursery Rhyme's been nominated for the 2027 Monarch Award (sponsored by the Association of Illinois School Library Educators)! Putting it alongside some excellent company (I'm Sorry You Got Mad, Ursula Upside Down +). @fuse8.bsky.social @unionsquarekids.bsky.social

Today, someone telling me I'm "the nicest person they know" makes me feel like they've only seen me scared.
Like, niceness helps me be in new environments and interact with new folks, it can help them feel safe, and it absolutely kept me alive when I was growing up. But it was demanded of me, whereas honest, rude and assertive kindness would've been punished. I never felt safe enough to not be nice.
Niceness is self defense, kindness is an assertive choice.
This is so awesome. Reading this is like one of those Physical 100 challenges where each round they attach heavier weights to you
oooh owl ring
It's really rocking me to remember how badly I feared being seen in high school: like, I couldn't let myself wear bright colors, let alone be gender nonconforming out loud.
