Ultrarunners from New England spent the April 5-6 taking on ultramarathons in North Carolina, California and Georgia. We have them all covered, starting with Crystal Ross’s stellar performance in her return to the Umstead 100.

Connecticut was the hot spot for ultrarunning in New England during the March 28-30 weekend with the Enchanted Forest back for its 9th year & a new addition from Steep Endurance – the Sleeping Giant Trail Runs. The March 28-30 weekend was on the lighter side for New Englanders following a massive slate of events the week before, but it was still busy enough to entail a two-roundup week. Here in Part I we turn to results from Utah, Ohio, Virginia and Georgia.
Joyce Zhou patiently waited and capitalized during the final loops of #ToHaleAndBack on her way to the overall win.
Part I rounded up results from out West and Part II recapped results from the Northeast. We close it out strong here in Part III with outcomes from the Southeast, including a pair of victories for runners from the region.
The March 21-23 weekend of ultra racing was so busy for New Englanders that this week’s roundup merits three parts to cover it all. Here in Part II we turn to the Northeast, with results from VA, PA and MD, and Connecticut’s Blake Hayden gets top billing for his 12-hour win at the Dogwood Ultra.
The busiest weekend of racing so far in 2025 saw runners from the region travel to at least a dozen other events across the country. In Part I of this week’s roundup we head West, and nobody had a bigger performance than Connecticut’s Eric Blake who took on Arizona trails and emerged victorious.

Here in Part II we journey West to Arizona, California, Oregon and Texas where runners took on diverse and challenging terrain and turned in some stellar performances. No New Englander had a bigger weekend than Eric LiPuma. The Vermonter toppled a long-standing course record at Mesquite Canyon.
Here in Part I of this week’s roundup we stay in the East, where several New Englanders traveled to nearby New Jersey for a trio of races, and then we go to Florida where two runners from the region tackled a time-based event.
Spots on the podium and impressive finishes at early-season ultramarathons were among the highlights for New Englanders during the Feb. 28-March 2 weekend.
Snow and ice covered many of the trails throughout New England during the Feb. 22-23 weekend, but several ultrarunners from the region ventured to warmer climates to race. Runners scattered from Florida to California, and points in between, and collected hard-earned finishes.

More than a dozen New Englanders took on the Black Canyon Ultras last weekend, including former Boston resident Joe McConaughy who earned one of the event’s biggest prizes. We also have results from the Algonquin 50K in Maryland and an ultra of a different kind – on skis – in Maine.

The TARCtic Frozen Yeti was the place to be in New England for ultrarunning during the Feb. 1-2 weekend, but a few runners from the region ventured elsewhere to race. Several went to Texas, a few headed to Florida & Arizona. One went to Missouri. We have them covered in this edition of the roundup.
