One of the extremely rare cases where even becoming a 5 star splash caster might have been better

When I asked him if going to GDC was scary because of the venue, I just got a "It looked like [the richest part of Manila]" for a response. Lol.

Almost a decade ago now my friend got sponsored for a trip to GDC so obviously I nagged him for details when he got back, and that was the same year there was a massive wave of complaints about GDC still being set in San Francisco because it was "unsafe" and "dirty"

LRT It's kind of darkly funny to me that one of the biggest signs of how troubled the industry is now is how many devs online are like "I'm not going to GDC" when for those of us with third worlder passports and currency, GDC wasn't feasible even back then

I think we oughta pay attention to the fact that a good number of posts in the #WhatAGameDevLooksLike tag have:

I’m not at GDC

And/or

I’m still/newly looking for work

Let that sink in, really think about it. Especially if you wanna share opinions on devs & the industry.
