I am a disciple of Jesus, and Jesus wants you to be one too.
I stand with and for Christ. I stand with and for Grace. I stand with and for Love. I stand with and for Mercy, Patience, Gentleness, Self-Control, and Peace. I stand with and for the Jesus Christ that is taught in the scriptures and cannot be contained in any human-made box.
They are trying to teach a false Jesus to my friends, to the people God called me to shepherd, to the people God called ME to share the love and mercy of Jesus with. I cannot stand idly by while wicked forces are at work trying to draw people away from Jesus.
I donβt like to make my faith political (perhaps thatβs a remnant from my upbringing in faith). However, this week, I donβt have the luxury of that choice. The politicians and the pundits are trying to step into my pulpit.
I need to allow space for my understanding of God to grow as God reveals new meaning out of the words of scripture and through our traditions and through the work of Godβs Spirit in the here and now.
God doesnβt fit in my box. I learn something new about God and then I make a new box. Still, my box isnβt big enough.
I may still be trying to make boxes but Iβve learned that I need to make them stretchy.
My faith journey has twists and turns and is full of growing pains because one thing Iβm good at is making boxes. I make boxes of belief (we all do, donβt we?). I think I have a good understanding of who God is and what God is like and then I try to shove God into my tiny box, but God is too big!
π§΅I am a person who takes faith in Jesus seriously. I found myself having my heart strangely warmed by Godβs Spirit on a mission trip when I was 12 years old. I witnessed what it looked like to see Godβs love in action. My faith has always been centered and deeply rooted within the pages of scripture
Christmas can be awe-inspiring. It can be a lot of things. Have you stopped to think about the vulnerable moments that surround this holiday? Jesus was born as a fragile, defenseless newborn. βGod with usβ incarnate was by nature vulnerable. What does that mean for you?

But I was thankful that our Boom made it clear that theyβre not out to delay people. They want to affirm peoples call, we just need to be able to articulate it.
For commissioning I was lucky to have some really good mentors. One of mine sat on Boom as well and looked over my questions to give me a heads up on any areas that may need tweaking. On the day of the interviews I felt crazy nervous haha.
I sit on the board of ordained ministry for Western PA AC. If you have any specific questions or anything, Iβd be happy to help!
The United Methodist Council of Bishops has released a Pastoral Letter in response to the United States elections earlier this week.
"Our baptismal vows call us βto resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves.β We therefore reject rhetoric, policies, and actions that demean or discriminate against any of God's children...β #UMC
