Thinking while I'm writing, perhaps the focus should instead be on what defines Minecraft's feature design in general, since "restrictions = creativity" in context with vertical slabs isn't enough to compare with Minecraft's typical design and seems quite outdated. (4/4)

In turn, I suppose mud (or terracotta) in 16 colors is one of the remaining hopes they adhere to this position, or develop it. Though on second thought, I should be careful what I wish for, as there appears to be very few instances of defined "restrictions = creativity" design in Minecraft. (3/4)

The reasoning is similar to Mojang's alleged reasoning for not adding vertical slabs, that restrictions equal creativity. However, Mojang has changed their positions quite rapidly in many areas, especially recently, and Jeb even debunked that as Mojang's holistic position on adding blocks. (2/4)

I've kind of had this hot take for a while that if they add slabs and stairs in all 16 colors, they should be more difficult to build with (such as distorted color). This suggestion just happened to align with that, aside from a previous idea I've had about adding terracotta slabs and stairs. (1/4)

And to be honest, I can't tell whether you're being petty or are genuinely the one player out of 100 million that's this opinionated about Minecraft blocks. Maybe you just really REALLY suck at building, but I'd say the same thing for myself tbf. Maybe we should just let the actual builders speak.

It might have been further back, but I heard you yapping about precedents which sounds much more like a meta criticism than a decorative one. Petty? I don't know how criticizing a block compared to arbitrary aspects of development history is less petty than pointing out that it's a nothingburger.

One has to wonder if someone actually likes decorative blocks if just one minor disruption of the game's consistency in the purely meta sense and barely decoration wise can completely ruin it anyway.

There's only like 3-4 differences between this idea and terracotta slabs/stairs, but okay.
Then again, if you're that serious, we could just cut the middleman and stop adding decorations entirely in favor of exploration for MY playstyle. It's a Very Reasonableβ’ win-win where everyone else loses.

When I finally discovered how to use components, it was very fun to mix and match items with textures and other attributes. Sometimes this even included using the spawn egg textures. "I'm going to stab you with a pocket cave spider that's secretly a spear."

Like, I guess they should just stop adding building blocks in case someone on the internet becomes inconvenieced by their presence instead of just scrolling along, and instead fully focus on the survival experience for MY playstyle. (3/3)

I doubt most people share, and much of what defines a good building block is very subjective. If we tiptoed around every small nitpick Minecraft players (like you) have then copper, mangrove, and bamboo wouldn't be a thing. In a sort of sarcastic sense, I suppose we've found common ground. (2/3)

And your reasoning for not liking the mud blocks is not a common one. The only thing I don't disagree with is that some of the mangrove roots would be strange, though it's also possible that Mojang just wouldn't add them because mangroves wouldn't grow in that composition. The other reasons... (1/3)

People be saying things so definitely. Like man, I think it depends.
The only contention I don't disagree with is that colored muddy mangrove roots would be a weird block.
But Mojang could always just say that these mud types don't have the proper composition for mangroves to grow in, and not add them.
It's always good to remember that things... kind of depend.

A giant spruce taiga biome using the Vibrant Visuals shader in Minecraft
Minecraft 26.1's first pre release allows you to change how quick the daylight cycle is using the /time command.
I wonder how immersive this could be with Vibrant Visuals and a slower daylight cycle. I'll surely try it out in survival through commands once VV comes to Java.

I wonder if we'll see Vibrant Visuals introduced to Java. The recent pre-release allows you to change how quick the daylight cycle is, and a slower daylight cycle could be very immersive with Vibrant Visuals.

The datapack possibilities will be spectacular for this drop, with the ability to change the daylight cycle's speed and set different lighting colors based on biome.

Screencap of the 26.1 Pre-release 1 changelog, which features changes to the "TIME" command, allowing you to change the rate at which the World Clock advances.
I was already VERY happy with the Tiny Takeover Drop, but they just added one of my most desired features to the game:
The ability to slow the day cycle.
(or raise it, importantly without affecting tick speed)
I will accept no slander against this Drop as it is simply peak.

Also saying that a blockset shouldn't be added because it includes uncommonly used colors would sound asinine if I didn't make a habit of using some blocks way more than others. Why do we need copper, or bamboo, or mangrove if they're just not used often? It doesn't hurt me, but the logic... π€ (2/2)

I think that's the entire main point of the idea, the first blockset with slabs and stairs utilizing the 16 dye colors. My standard is that there should be something to make them harder to use, such as not exactly matching the tint of wool, concrete, etc. But still. (1/2)

I like this idea precisely as opposed to dyed wood or concrete though.
I'm actually confused as to why requesting dyed wood is more similar to requesting colored mud than dyed concrete slabs/stairs, when dyed wood and concrete slabs/stairs would be the same color with a slightly different texture?

This is a much more creative idea than just adding concrete slabs and stairs to Minecraft. How about adding 16 different colors of mud and being able to convert all of these into their dried and brick variants? Idea by Nova Wostra. discord.com/channels/113...

Game Mode button set to creative in Minecraft
I once had the same misconception myself. Heard the game being talked about rigorously and thought it was just some secret game mode or easter egg within the regular game.

I've seen it pointed out multiple times that the drop system hasn't added any full blocksets since TGA, though I think it's nice that Mojang is fleshing out building in other ways too. Mob variants, ambient sounds, particle emitters, a rideable flying mob, "vertical slabs", and golden dandelions!

Games are an art form and art needs an end.
A painting has no more canvas to paint on. A book has no more pages to read. A song has no more to listen to. A film has the same.
If these things aren't the case people wouldn't like it, so why do people expect the opposite from a game? Let them end.
