The people that own these companies spout word salads in the hopes that someone actually thinks they’re smart…they’re not by the way.
There are bits I don’t enjoy, but that’s ok. They’re not for me and that’s fine, I just focus on what I do enjoy rather than stimulating rage and spreading hate.
I love TLJ and Andor, how they have something to say.
I adore the OT and PT for their different flavours.
But, I also love TRoS and its treasure hunting, Mando’s pulpiness.
And I love the animation, the books, comics and games.
It comes down to people being fiercely attached to their opinions.
Star Wars can be fun, daft, silly and nostalgia baity (Lucas himself did all of that) but it can also be deep and important. There’s room for all of it and none of it is less than for being one way or another.
People latch on to hate and become the very people that harassed them.
Almost like Star Wars fans never learn anything from the franchise.
It’s almost impossible to say something positive about Rise without some rando coming in telling you that “it undoes everything from the Last Jedi” (it doesn’t), “the ‘somehow’ line is the worst line in history” (not even the worst line in Star Wars).
It just annoys me that the people who talked about being bullied and harassed about liking the PT, the Last Jedi, etc. become the bullies and harassers as soon as there’s a bit they don’t like.
Truly it is tiring.
Sadly the fans cannot take a step back, cannot get perspective, cannot see beyond their own biases, prejudices and their own subjective objectives.
I do feel that like the prequels the sequels will be reevaluated in time.
Nobody every learns, history repeats again and again. That sadly is the hallmark of humanity.
End of the day, the franchise is so big that not everything is going to be FOR you, but every part of it is also somebody else’s favourite bit.
Be cool, be kind, let people enjoy things and don’t be a dick.
