"people who are mentally ill for a short period go back to work after a short period.
"But those who are chronically mentally ill are less likely to get better."
Well slap my arse and call me Doris.
Yep, they're coming after us again, gang. Strap in, we know how this goes.
How many fit notes have they refused for broken limbs?
How many fit notes have they refused for influenza?
How many fit notes have they refused in total?
Oh no, it's just people whose brains are ill that are lying about it. Quelle subloodyprise. Lazy, malingering snowflakes that we are.
Pure copper Ingot (made from copper wire apparently) one of two items in this seller’s list. Couldn’t help laughing!
Is. Is EA-Nasir on Vinted?!?! #reallyshittycopper #eanasir
@alistaircoleman.bsky.social :)
I mean, Gul Dukat considered himself a hero
Watched Super Mario Bros for the first time a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. It's got next to nothing to do with the video game but as a silly, family action film I had a lot of fun with it.
That was literally the plot of a Cagney and Lacey episode I watched last week if you swap the word "cancer" with "cocaine addict"
"Cagney starts dating cancer while they're trying to get enough tourists
evidence to stop a slum landlord. Lacey must convince her this is a bad idea"
Fuck me, look at this Harry Enfield-ass melt getting angry over people preferring badgers to genocidaires.
Reminds me of the Hitchhikers Guide bit:
"This problem eventually fell to the lawyers who experimented with redefining murder, reassessing it and in the end, even repelling it"
"It's Zaphod! What's he doing coming out of a rock?"
"Well, who says he needs a reason?"
Off the top of my head, Franchisteining feels appropriate.
My former Overlord is correct.
Watched The Fall Guy this evening. Really enjoyed it, would make a great double bill with Joe Carnahan's The A-Team.
Storygraph are giving away ten copies of The Sleepless! Ends the 18th of March (for UK peeps) app.thestorygraph.com/giveaways/21...
Is that the Judi Dench one?
He looks like he's turning into the Joker.
The reason the middle-class media has not reported Hannah Spencer being attacked by right-wing transphobes is that it needs to preserve the nice, coffeee-round-the-kitchen-table, middle-class view of transphobia, not the thuggish fascist reality.
Why, in all its many years on screen has Doctor Who somehow managed to avoid the body swap story? It's ripe for Without a Clue style shenanigans.
I feel like we don't really talk about the weird arc of Jean-Luc Picard from stoic philosopher diplomat in the early seasons to anxious comedy boss in the later seasons
Linda Hamilton and Bryan Cranston in the bluest outfits and most 80's hair from the episode "Menace, Anyone?"
Folks...this picture of Linda Hamilton and Bryan Cranston from an episode of MURDER SHE WROTE. I didn't think it was possible for two people to look this 1986.
Partial section of the face of a full-size chocolate cat being held over the face of an actual cat.
Phantom of the Opurra
This broke me. Dave had to tell me to take a deep breath and use my words 💀
We are at home and safe; but this is really sad to see. I'm often in and out of Glasgow Central station, and I really hope they manage to contain the fire before it does any serious damage.
But also fuck all these shitty vape shops. The lithium batteries are highly flammable and extremely hard to >
They're coming to get you Barbara!
Screenshot from TNG episode Phantasms. Three white men in a variety of late 19th century/early 20th century American workwear, leaning on a table top facing the audience and looking downwards offscreen. Data is standing in the background. I've used a black and white filter on it, and added the text "got a light?" in Impact typeface, so that it looks like subtitles. I'm riffing on the episode Part 8, from S3 of Twin Peaks
Watching TNG's Phantasms, and amused myself with this idea
It's a fun film. Billy Zane is great as the lead and Williams is a fantastic villain. There's also Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as a sarcastic pirate king which is wonderful.
Not necessarily, I think the actor playing the Doctor is almost immaterial. To my mind it needs to be telling more original stories with less nods to the past and less fetishisation of the Doctor as this wonderful being companions can't walk away from.
Xander Drax in The Phantom. He's amazing in that, the character loves his own villainy. He's just having the best time.
If you have access to Tubi in the UK I've just discovered that they've added Dead Heat to their playlist and if you've never seen it I implore you to seek it out. It's a buddy cop film where one of the cops becomes a zombie. It's my second favourite Treat Williams performance.
