A fresh red radish is trimmed and the white interior revealed is in the shape of a heart!
#40daysofgoodshit today is this lil radish I sliced to roast for dinner, which happened to have a little love to share π₯° #cooking

A teen boy and his younger sister work on repotting small bonsai plants at an event.
#40daysofgoodshit late post from yesterday is that we went to a bonsai bar event as a family! Now we have four bonsais to keep alive π
Just keep driving.
So.... Would you date that building?? Curious minds want to know!
Blond kid plays 41-year-old bassoon in the middle of a high school band, surrounded by other young musicians.
#40daysofgoodshit for today is my kid playing my old bassoon in a band concert tonight and actually being visible (and audible). Sometimes the bassoons are buried in the middle and you can't see em! Right on the end tonight π Sorry for screenshot quality... From video and far away!
I have some of this too! It's rough! I do best with an assignment. Solution: make myself assignments π€·ββοΈ (buy it's still hard cuz I am no dummy π)
A big low moon is reflected in a dark lake, with some cityscape lights.
#40daysofgoodshit tonight is this shot of the very giant orange moon, reflected in Cherry Creek Reservoir as we drove home from Lent service π all of us were glued to the window all the way across the dam. Photo never does it justice, sorry!
Except for color. Was it originally a normal colored hand or a ghosty pale one?! Somebody did some work there. Weird.
I can't get past the fact that the hand and watch are the same on both guys.
A sketch of a bird filled with different patterns and textures, all in graphite.
#40daysofgoodshit today is that i am taking a class on semi abstract art at the Curtis Center! The teacher is Christian Dore, whose work and energy I really like. Today we just did scribbly sketchy things but our homework is to draw something like his example bird here. Way outside my comfort zone π€ͺ
A watercolor blob with colored pencil accents! It's mostly black and fluorescent pink but there are tiny pops of many other colors.
#40daysofgoodshit for today is this totally #abstract piece. I don't know what these are yet but I have a lot of fun making them and I'm gonna keep doing it. There's #watercolor (black and pink here) and then colored pencil layered over top in careful gradients to create more depth and interest.
A tiny espresso cup with a pen and ink strawberry on it, and a small glass with lily of the valley printed on it. Both are snuggled onto the tray of a small espresso machine.
Splitting an afternoon espresso with my hubs after a grueling trip thru Ikea. He always wants coffee hot, no matter what, so his is in the little strawberry mug. I wanted it cold, so I put it in the tiny lily of the valley glass with ice π #40daysofgoodshit
Ugh please do share!! Hate this feature.
In progress abstract painting of zinnia, with watercolor blobs of pink, green, and yellow in the background and a flower forming over top.
My #40daysofgoodshit post today is this combo of abstract and realism, an in progress composition of watercolor and colored pencil. It will eventually be a little more refined in the foreground where the flower is just starting to appear. Wonderful zen project for today... #botanicalart #watercolor
Driveway chalk art with hopscotch grid and 67 chicken banana on it π€·ββοΈ
Photographed but forgot to post my #40daysofgoodshit yesterday! Came across this entertaining bit of sidewalk chalk on my run yesterday. Gave me a giggle. According to my own kids, 67 is over, but somebody didn't get the memo.
A recent Volkswagen beetle decked out in ladybug livery, complete with eyelashes on the headlights.
For #40daysofgoodshit today we have a neighborhood car costume π
I feel so seen π₯΄
Oo, have a mammogram
Pink and blue sunset above a parking lot
My #40daysofgoodshit today will be this lovely sunset outside the gym tonight. As always, more impressive in person!
Lemon coconut cake with kid photo bombing behind
A lemon curd and coconut cream cheese frosting cake on a geometric cake plate with toasted coconut all over it.
My #40daysofgoodshit today (if we are counting Sundays within lent which I think is controversial...) is this awesome lemon curd and coconut cake my hubby and I made for our sister in law's 40th birthday party π ...it was really good. Recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction!
Photo of Chihuly glass sculpture in window of performing arts venue. It is sparkly and candy ish, made of green and yellow and orange twirls of glass.
My #40daysofgoodshit post today is this Chihuly glass sculpture inside the performing arts center on the way to our date night play!
Painting of a warty yellow-orange gourd with wings or ribs with a fanciful purple shadow in gouache.
For #40daysofgoodshit today we have a gleeful little gourd rendered in gouache and colored pencil. I started this wet in wet and did dryer gouache and then colored pencil to bring it into dimensionality. Pretty pleased as this is not how I normally work. A nice palette cleanser between bigger work.
A bunch of gray plain knitting and a little bit of mint green ribbing at the edge.
My #40daysofgoodshit today is switching from a sea of gray knitting to the ribbing in minty green on my kid's requested (and color directed) sweatshirt. It's the Besties pattern by Tin Can Knits. Their app is π€©
Let's learn some surprising things about hummingbird tongues.
First, as you can see, their tongues are forked & feathery, highly specialized for lapping up their liquid diet of nectar.
But it gets weirder up close!
A red bud on a stalk of amaryllis in front of a window with blue evening light.
I'm gonna try to follow Nadia Bolz-Weber's Lenten discipline of #40daysofgoodshit this year. You can read her intro on her substack (thecorners.substack.com/p/40-days-of...) A gratitude practice of sorts. Join me? Today's picture is a second bloom on our Christmas gift amaryllis βΊοΈ
Yeah ragdolls have no survival instincts whatsoever. Cat distribution system knocking on your door, sounds like.
A four panel comic. In panel 1, there are three beautiful blooming roses, and the text says "Roses are red..." In panel 2, there are some lovely violets budding and blooming, and the text says "Violets are blue..." In panel 3, there are some terrifying red and flesh colored plants with toothy maws and the text says "Hydnora are leafless, bizarrely fleshy, and incapable of producing chlorophyl..." and in panel 4 there are some cute hearts and the text says "And so are you. Happy Valentine's Day"
Botany valentine. Another oldie.
If wisdom is what we need, HOW do we build it??
I recommend a simply micro-practice called "Pause & Get Curious"
Before we react, we take a moment and choose our response.
It's simple to understand, challenging to DO, and POWERFUL in growing our wisdom!
