#5debutalbums8589 Crime & The City Solution - Just South Of Heaven (1985) Without doubt the most underrated band of the 80's. A six track mini-album of gothic splendour. Brooding tunes of misery and desolation. Love. It. #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying
4 great albums. I refused to play any Yes for years, but the #5albums thing had me playing and really enjoying them again (and loads of other stuff that Iβd been stupidly avoiding). Really like Andersonβs voice for some reason. π
Good shout, Will, forgot about this one, not played it in decades. Seem to recall it was a decent album. Onto the list it goes. ππ
Yes, totally get where youβre coming from, the songs shine through despite the production, still a top album for me too. π
π Youβve cracked it, Cliff, it was definitely the Victoria Leisure Centre. So not outside then π
The Bali Hai is a blast from the past, saw Poison Girls there.
ππ
I saw the Redskins once, in Nottingham, with A Witness supporting (annoyingly I canβt recall the venue - may have been outside?). Maybe you were there too? The memory has gone. Great gig though, I remember that much. π
π Added to ever lengthening list. Cheers.
No problem. Excellent band.
Still got my vinyl from the 70s & 80s, gathering dust in the loft. At least 2 walking seeds albums buried up there. π
Yes, thatβs where I first heard them too, supporting The Fall, at the Birmingham Town Hall, great gig. Took my future wife to that one, her first Fall gig, and she still married me!! π
Me too, also got it, and also not listened to it for a while π I might need to rectify that.
Chumbawamba - thatβs one great album. Another one Iβd forgotten. Thanks for the heads up ππ

Walking Seeds - Skullfuck
Crazy but very enjoyable.
Genre is apparently heavy psych rock??? Dunno about that, but itβs good.
Worth a punt, people.
youtu.be/N2XZ5HZVs6w?...
Agreed, brilliant album. ππ
Great list, as usual. Iβve a couple of Young Gods albums, but not their debut. Added to the list. Good shout. ππ
Go on, take part, just this once, you know you want to, I wonβt tell anyone, no one will ever know (apart from the lovely blue sky community, that is) π
Streetcleaner, good shout ππ
The Shamen, great shout, missed off my list. ππ
We had Fugaziβs debut as Revolver, 1990, as 13 songs was deemed a compilation, I think.
Yeah, me too.
Head of David, Dog Faced Hermans, Walking Seeds. Thereβll be more, too, as my memory ainβt that good. π
Youβre not wrong. Iβve missed quite a few too. Should be fun, listening to this lot again ππ§π΅π
Skag heaven is a fantastic album. π
Iβm going for Step On It, as Let Them Eat Bogshed was an ep (or mini lp or whatever).
Ah, thereβs 3 or 4 on there that Iβve missed, cheers π
No surprises, I think I was the only person voting for them in the original #5album run.
Saw Stupids a few times back in the late eighties, and youβre not wrong. Awesome live as well (Iβve still got the stage diving bruises). Probably right re MBV too, Iβve not done my homework yet π

Off the top of my head:
Bogshed
A.C.Temple
De La Soul
Big Black
Pixies
Stupids
My Bloody Valentine
Band of Susan's
SquirrelBait
Easterhouse
Redskins
A Witness
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Wedding Present
This will be a good one. Anyone else voting for Bogshed?
Hi folks the next challenge in our debut albums series is likely to be a busy one as weβre focussing on albums released between 1985-89. Voting commences on Friday 20th March, when Iβll be looking for your top 5 picks. In the meantime, please use hashtag #5DebutAlbums8589 to add recommendations.
Hi folks, thanks to everyone who took the time to vote in #5debutalbums0509 Just under 400 different albums were nominated and coming out top of the pile were Fleet Foxes with their self titled debut. Please see the top 100 chart to follow, where the top 30 progress to the semi final stage..
Me again. Thereβs a mistake on your bio, youβve got the wrong Nottingham football team on there. π
