Zantok/Lister

Unfortunately, I feel a bit negative about the game's ending. It felt rushed and seemed to be more about concluding the game's C plot than it's A plot. I'm hoping that when I eventually get around to playing the sequel that it follows up more on the lingering A and B plot threads from the original.

I was terrible at navigating through the air and bumbled my way through combat when I played it, but it was still fun. There were challenges that would appear through the game to clear and earn upgrade points, and the story had some good characters and mysteries to it.

3/13 - Gravity Rush - Gravity Rush is a rather interesting game where instead of running around and punching and kicking like in any other game (I mean you can, but you shouldn't), you instead can control gravity around you to fly, hit with powerful dive kicks, and even carry things through the air.

3/12 - Beat Saber - I'm not much one for rhythm games, but I have played a little bit of Beat Saber in VR and it was fun. Exhausting, but fun. If I had VR I could see myself throwing in a few video game tracks and record myself flailing through them. Cool concept and the only VR game I care about.

Really the only thing that I can recall not really liking about ORAS was the redesign of Mauville City. It basically got turned into a giant shopping mall. Not much a fan of that. But the rest of the game's changes I really enjoyed.

We also got more Mega Evolutions after XY gave us the first batch, and this time they were more accessible than in XY. Zinnia was a fun new character and I loved the redesigns for Maxie and Archie. The Delta Episode was good postgame content allowing us to fight both Rayquaza and Deoxys.

3/11 - Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire - Of the Pokemon remakes we've had so far, ORAS is the best of them in my opinion. Bringing the Hoenn region and story of RS to the modern age (at the time) and adding great new features like Soaring and the DexNav. Shame DexNav got immediately thrown away.

Like Mario World and RPG, SMB3 was one of the core four games of my early childhood that I played with my grandma for countless hours. I could not tell you how many hours we spent replaying these games (and some others), her as Mario and me as Luigi. Simpler times. Happy (late) Mario Day!

3/10 - Super Mario Bros 3 - While before I said that Mario World was the best 2D Mario game, SMB3 comes in at a close second. The first world map, being able to bank items, and of course the wonders of the Raccoon and Tanooki Suits. The Koopalings made their debut and I enjoyed the airship levels.

I really enjoyed playing through each of the Zero Escape games. Some characters I actively didn't like, but there's great ones as well such as my two favorites from this game, Snake and Santa. I really hope they make more games either in this series, or in this style.

Panic and paranoia rule the day. Making decisions changes what escape rooms you have to solve and what part of the mystery you get to see. Reached a bad end? Don't worry, you can load up a previous point in the timeline and make different choices to learn more about the mystery and hopefully escape!

3/9 - Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - Do you like Escape Rooms? Do you like plots that make you got wtf? Do you like split routes? Well then I've got the game for you! 9 strangers are brought together and told they're going to die in 9 hours if they can't escape through the 9 door.

Since we beat both Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Last of Us 2 over the weekend, it's time for a schedule update! This Saturday we'll be starting Dispatch! This Sunday there won't be a stream, but on the following Sunday we'll be starting Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney!

Sadly I was never able to actually beat the game. I had a lot of memory card issues with my PS1. I tried playing it on PSP and got to the final boss, but ended up losing to some nonsense. Put down the PSP for a few days, and when I turned it back on my screen was completely dead. *sigh* Some day.

Triple Triad is easily the superior card game over FF9's Triad Master, however Triad Master doesn't have to deal with needing to eliminate certain rules from spreading around the region and having to manipulate certain characters in order to obtain specific cards.

3/8 - Final Fantasy VIII - It may no longer be my favorite FF, but it definitely was when I was a kid. I loved the way the world looked, Balamb Garden was a fun place to be, and I really enjoyed Squall as a character. It's rare in a game where you actually get to see your character's inner thoughts.

Zantok - Twitch Abby's Story: Day 2

Going live with some more of The Last of Us Part II: Remastered! It's Day 2 again and we're in the hospital looking for supplies. I hate it here.

Overall, I'm glad I listened and I played Yakuza 0 first before getting into Yakuza Kiwami 1. The payoff was better by far and Kiwami 1 definitely builds on the lore that 0 helped to establish with the relationships between different characters. Would not have felt the same if I played YK1 first.

Haruka, Date, and the Florist were all great new additions. I kinda wonder how the original game's story was without the additions since I know they added a lot of scenes to explain more about the villain and without those I fail to see how you could really care about them.

3/7 - Yakuza Kiwami - We finished streaming Yakuza Kiwami 2 today, so let's talk Kiwami 1. Kiryu's first story, redone with several callbacks to 0 and enhancements to the story. The combat was based off of 0's with the different styles, but it felt much improved and I had more fun with fighting.

Going live with what will hopefully be the last of Yakuza Kiwami 2! All that's left to do is to fight the Amon brothers. Will we beat them today? Will I need another stream to do it? Let's find out!

Inside his closet lies a world of characters that Pajama Sam helps, and in turn gets help from, as he looks for his Lunchbox, Flashlight, and Mask so he can be brave. Eventually Pajama Sam finds Darkness and learns that Darkness is just as scared as him. It's a fun lesson for kids scared of the dark

3/6 - Pajama Sam in "No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside" - The Humongous Entertainment games were pretty big for me as a kid. I played so many of them several times over. The first Pajama Sam was a fun little story about a kid scared of Darkness so he takes on a superhero persona to confront it.

This game was my pick for Game of the Year in 2017, beating out Breath of the Wild. Largely due to me enjoying it so much I wanted to blitz it to the end. Still wish we could have gotten more worlds as DLC, but ah well. Where 3D Mario will take us next, nobody knows, but I'm curious to find out.

Unlike Bananza, I wasn't able to get every Moon (because I suck at platforming) but I got the vast majority of them and I had a good time doing so. First night I was playing I had to put the game down to go to bed. Then an hour or so later I said fuck that, and finished the story in one night.

3/5 - Super Mario Odyssey - This game was a hell of a hit for debuting the Switch. I love how distinct the worlds look and being able to capture and control enemies was a pretty cool idea. I don't tend to like the tend of Nintendo games giving you companions that talk for you, but Cappy was good.

I don't remember a lot of what went on it the game other than it was futurey and there was an alt dimension. Lappy was a fun character and Kyle Merkulov easily gets the award for best designed character. He should be an Assist in the next Smash Bros.

3/4 - Astral Chain - Truthfully, I don't remember much about this game. I played it, beat it, and then moved on. But I remember liking its gameplay and getting to fight with the various Legions. The combat took some getting used to at first, but I thought it was pretty interesting.

But what's that? There's something different about the level? Nah, couldn't be. There is only one level after all. It surely wouldn't change the rules each time you play it, making you solve the same level in different ways. I do love this game though and the others made by John. He makes fun games.
