I'm proud of both my kids, both of whom have chosen their own wildly different paths. Eldest went to uni and youngest was adamant he didn't want that so joined up instead.

It's hard, no matter what time of year. It's hard because you care, and they know it. But you can't keep being broken and patched up, eventually there's no spare space for the plasters.
