Wind turbines kill birds, yes but...
#Warhammer is roughly twice as big as #D&D.
In the year to 1 June 2025, GW made USD 795m of revenue. In the corresponding year to 29 June 2025, WotC made USD 464m ex Magic: The Gathering; this is mostly (but not all) D&D.
Photo from the early 1970s of a man on horseback negotiating the Birmingham inner ring road at Holloway Head
I’m searching for the original and/or rights owner of this fabulous picture of Birmingham in the early 1970s. It popped up on my Instagram feed, but I’ve been unable to track it down.
Any leads? I’m really hoping to use it in a book.
(And would much appreciate a RT please)
Chris Miller: Some clarification here: "no green screen" doesn't mean "no VFX". There were, in fact, thousands of VFX shots in the film (2018!) Green screen is sometimes used in lieu of building sets or figuring out locations/lighting in advance, which can be noticeable if not done carefully, and is something we didn't want to do. We built the entire interior of the Hail Mary ship - but within the ship, there were still wire and puppeteer removals and ceiling replacements, etc. When Ryan is outside on the hull of the ship, we shot him in front of a black background for space and a shifting hue background when he was up against the aurora of a planet which allowed for truer interactive light on him than a green screen would. The wide space exteriors and spaceship shots were entirely digital and beautifully done by ILM. Rocky was a seamless blend of puppetry and animation from Framestore. And other great work from many more. It really does take a village and we had the best of the best on our side.

Alan Bleasdale's incredible Boys From The Blackstuff is now on BBC iPlayer. I cannot stress how brilliant this show is, how gut wrenching and heartbreaking and laugh out loud funny it is too.
Those that know it will rush to rewatch.
I envy those watching it for the first time. #GisAJob

Imagine if the Green Party got even slightly close to the levels of fawning coverage reserved for Farage and his dipshit chums.
A Green win must mean that "left behind" voters forgotten by Westminster want open borders and legalised class A drugs. That's how it works right?
Have you backed Blades '68 yet? If not you must need more incentive? How about I release an interview with designer Tim Denee at 5000 backers?
No, I'm not getting paid. I mean, I've not averse to it, but this is really good stuff! If you like your FitD action, go back it!

Fun fact: video gaming as a sector is worth more to the UK economy every year than the music and film industries combined in GVA.
Maybe it's not your thing, cool, whatever, but you definitely still benefit from the fact other people enjoy it as much as they do and being a snob about it is passé 🤷♀️
Thank God. A brilliant Black man with Tourette’s, the first elected official with Tourette’s, speaks eloquently on where our care and compassion should be and who could have done better.
I so wish this could be the final word. Compassion for those who suffered. Teachable moment for institutions.
Important news!

Always funny when CEOs talk down their biz to calm monopoly fears. Ted Sarandos tells @mattbelloni.bsky.social that Adolescence is only second time Netflix cracked UK's top 50 series/films. Wrong! Last year alone, Netflix featured 38 times in Britain's big league. KPop made list for 19 weeks.
I just did a whole Writing and Whatnot blog post about how to do this!
I'll share it here in case it helps anyone... (hope that's ok, Greg). writingandwhatnot.com/blog/diy-new...
I just did the dumbest thing of my entire career to prove a much more serious point.
I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users I’m a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion
People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I’ll explain how I did it
The AI bubble RAM crisis is caused for non-existent problems by non-existent money for a non-existent infrastructure to meet non-existent demand to make non-existent business and will utterly destroy real business based on real demand and real infrastructure built with real money for real problems.
This is how you live a life

Post from Art Director Bill Robinson on LinkedIn saying: Welp, it finally happened. I was hired to work on a MAJOR live action Hollywood film (and I mean it’s one of the biggest anticipated films of the year). They needed a small animated sequence and wanted a character designer. I was handed a ChatGPT image and told “make it different”. I did - I spent hours finessing the design into something better and more specific for the character in the film. Waited a week for notes - then was told they got clearance from legal to use the original AI image instead. No need for any further work. This is what the director wanted. What are we doing as a society? What’s the endgame here? Replace every human until we are all homeless? I just don’t get it. If a major Hollywood film with a huge budget doesn’t see the need to work with real artists, is there any hope left?
Dude regularly works for Disney, DreamWorks, Netflix and CN so speculate away. But this sucks no matter which studio is doing it, and gross to think some major movie this year is running with a plagiarized image from ChatGPT.
One of the purest examples of a moral panic in our time. A clinic that had years-long waitlists and required an average of 7 appointments before providing transition care smeared and shut down for being reckless.
