The law does not require info be classified, because it was written before the classification system existed. The law refers simply to "national defense information."

All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job “because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt.”

Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

They might as well label handguns the same thing. People use drugs because they want to use drugs; the solution to a drug problem is treatment, not trying to stop the supply. Drugs are also a little different than handguns because there's more social stigma around drugs than guns.
