Indirectly #US99 history. Pacoima, where he was from, is right along San Fernando Road, which was 99 from 1926 to 1963, almost its entire history.

The quake severely damaged the 5 in the Newhall Pass and Gavin Canyon, necessitating the rehabilitation of former US 99 through the pass to allow through travel. 1994 was the closest you could travel pre-1968 US 99 as the truck lanes (1955 US 99 freeway) and the old expressway were the main route.
