My friend @andrewjparsons.bsky.social on what it is like working in an industry that is clearly experiencing a bubble. His experience was in podcasting, but there was a lot of this in digital journalism over the last two decades β all abruptly ending in recent years.
I wrote a thing
wait, the Lakers started 3-9 after threepeating?
Iβd bet any amount of money that this is an @fivefourpod.bsky.social listener www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...
I'm proud to have co-created two of the podcasts on this amazing list, and grateful to know so many of the talented people who created many of the others.

Go basketball teams! (So we know who the #Cavs will beat in the first round)
Jarrett Allen is the peopleβs β and by people, I mean oddballs β champion. Such a great model for a world that tries to keep people in boxes.

Hey NYC peeps -- do you know anyone who buys parts for old TVs? I've been getting some old TV consoles and just using the furniture parts. So I have old TV screens that might be useful to people who restore TVs but haven't found many companies in the NYC area. Any ideas?
Height isnβt quite there but A+ pun
I like Jarrett Allen. NBA big man who not only plays like a big man but seems to be gleeful about it.

I urge all @clevelandcavaliers.bsky.social fans to read Hanif Abdurraqib's "There's Always This Year." It's a beautiful and engrossing meditation on life and basketball anchored in #cavs fandom. #letemknow #EthicalBasketball #cleveland

Doris Burke called Karl Anthony-Townes the βBig Bodegaβ in Knicks/Hawks cup game. Missed opportunity to name him Bodega KAT.
In the beginning of the year, I hollowed out a TV from the 70s and made a cat bed out of it. My cats refused to use it. I finally caved and sold it, and the new owner sent me a pic of a cat who actually appreciates my craftiness.
Very proud that our series Backfired landed on @newyorker.com's list of the best podcasts of the year. It's very humbling company to be in. I'm also excited to listen to a few I hadn't heard of. @asarahlarson.bsky.social always digs up some fascinating dark horses. www.newyorker.com/culture/2024...
As I try and finish all my work before 7 pm, I faintly hear Moondog calling me....
