A cartoon by the brilliant Tom Gauld. The first panel introduces us to Science Cat, a black feline, wearing a white lab coat and carrying a clipboard and pen. The next panels show a succession of events in close-up: a mug perched near the edge of a table as the end of the pen approaches; that same mug captured in mid-air as it heads downwards towards the floor; a big smash when it meets its destination. We then see Science Cat writing on the clipboard, and musing as follows: "Once again, the experiment confirmed my hypothesis, but further research in this area is required." In the final panel, Science Cat heads off, pen in the top-pocket of the lab coat, thinking "I love science!".

🚟 The world’s oldest suspension monorail turned 125 this month.

Wuppertal Schwebebahn, developed by Eugen Langen, opened on 1 March 1901. It has since become the city's landmark.

The 13km route of the monorail runs mainly along the River Wupper and is used by more than 80k people daily.

Die Dreharbeiten für meinen nächsten Film beginnen bald und darin geht es um Ingeborg Bachmann und Gewaltformen gegen Frauen. Es gibt nämlich sehr viele Formen von Gewalt, die gesellschaftlich mitgetragen werden. Gaslighting, Silencing, Disziplinierung, uswusf. Das sollte man(n) sich bewusst machen.

Zum internationalen Frauentag eine beschämende "Perle" aus der Schweiz. 1991 (sic!) wurde im Kanton Appenzell Innerrhoden das Frauenstimmrecht eingeführt. Damit durften die Frauen auf kantonaler Ebene nun überall wählen. (Clip ist von 2020)

One of the most common things CPTSD survivors share is their utter shock & skepticism that what they endured actually qualifies as "trauma"-- even if they'd easily use that label to describe someone ELSE going through the exact same thing.

If you're reading this, you know someone who struggles with CPTSD or DID, whether you know it or not.

If you're reading this, the person in your life working their trauma recovery is facing demons & leveraging courage of a sort most humans can never imagine.

Some people will make you feel stupid for "still" reacting to something that happened "so long ago"-- as if the damage CPTSD does only stems from what happened back then, & not the years of trying to cope & continue functioning SINCE then w/ inadequate support & care.

i work with words for a living, so I am biased, but I really think we've got to bring back words. really useful if you imbue them with meaning and arrange them properly!
