I’ve been wondering why only Eva can blame her upbringing but Kat doesn’t get the same benefit?

I still think Joey targeted Doug before Doug developed an addiction. That casino is small, so Joey probably runs some type of check on all regulars. He researched Doug, learned Vanessa had a legitimate business, and used Randy to keep Doug in reach. The goal was Vanessa business.
